La Coaurde's many  charms include the village itself, the market, the alleys in which you’ll lose yourself, the bandstand and all sorts of watersports : sailing, beach children clubs and fishing.

There is also a varied cultural choice thanks to La Maline which is an important centre for Rétais culture lovers. La Maline is a collection of 50 different shows and spectacles which take place over the year and include theatre, music, dance and circus.

L'Accro' Paul is situated in the centre of La Couarde and has lots of local products from ile de Re – wines, pineau the local aperitif, beers, cognac, liqueurs and salts and sweets. Situated at 34, Quattro Grande Rue, in La Couarde Sur Mer .

Jet Révasion (open from 15/6 – 15/9) Another interesting way to see ile de Re is by scooter situated at Plage Sud - Le Boutillon, in La Couarde sur Mer.

Other sports include : The French sailing school at north beach open all year; and the Dauphins sailing school at Plage du Peu Ragot. The tennis Club Couardais – with lessons and even a mini-golf is situated at Avenue d’Antioche.

For kids : Centre de loisirs l'Ile aux Loisirs – welcomes children from 3 to 12 years old situated at Rue Charles de Gaulle .Also les Dauphins beach club Plage sud du Peu Ragot. Or a Garderie l'Ilôt z'enfants – for young children from 18 months to 4 years old at Rue Charles de Gaulle .
