Arnac Pompadour (Corrèze) mini guide

This Limousin Chateau and its estate, long associated with Anglo-Arab horse breeding, became a Royal Stud in 1764.  Napoleon re-established the Stud after the Revolution and Pompadour is now a National Stud.

The race course was built in 1837 around the same time as, and now twinned with the Folkestone racecourse.   In 1745, the Chateau and its property had been transferred by Louis XV to his mistress, who became Madame de Pompadour (although she rarely lived at the Chateau).
