Gueret (Creuse) mini guide

Gueret is built on the site of a seventh century monastery. The town centre is a delight to walk around with it’s mixture of new and old shops. On Thursdays and Saturdays there is a lovely market in the town square.

Just outside the main town of Gueret lies Lake Courtille. The lake offers a wide range of activities including windsurfing, canoeing, fishing, a skateboarding area and play areas for the children, miniature golf and a tennis court.

Places To Visit

• The Musée de la Sénatorerie - set in beautiful parkland the museum features tapestries, objet d‘art, Chinese ceramic collection and weapons. There is also a room dedicated to the artists who drew their inspiration from the Creuse.
• Forest of Chabrières - situated just outside of Guéret, the park is home to many different species of wolf. You can visit the park and see the wolves in their natural habitat.

Weather

The weather is influenced a great deal by the Atlantic sea. The summers tend to be comfortably hot and dry and the winters quite wet but not unbearably cold.
