Red Fruit Fair - Somme

Event takes place: 01 July 2012 - 01 July 2012

The fruit farmers set up stalls ladden with strawberries, raspberries, red, white and blackcurrants, loganberries and cherries. A prize is awarded for the most spectacular display, which are always created around a particular theme.

As you would expect at such a market, fresh fruit, jam, syrup, fruit coulis and compotes are all on sale with everyone entertained by street performers, circus acts and musicians. Around 20,000 people attend this annual market, which runs 9am to 7pm. Entance is free.

The market is set around the town's early Gothic cathedral. An imposing church with two tall towers which rise up from the surrounding tiled houses of Noyon.

The town is located a mile from the river Oise in a wooded plain surrounded by hills. The market can be easy located in the town as the churches towers are unmissable!
