Aiguille du Midi

The Aiguille du Midi ("Needle of the South") is a rocky outcrop (3842m) in the Mont Blanc massif in the French Alps.

The Aiguille du Midi cable car which rides up from Chamonix to an altitude of 3,800 metres gives truly extraordinary views of Mont Blanc and the surrounding massif from the top. In winter, it is also the starting point for the famous 'Vallée Blanche skiing route.

The nearby Cosmiques Refuge is the starting point for one of the routes to the Mont Blanc summit.
