The Château is famous as the setting for the signing of the "Edict of Nantes" in 1598 - marking the end of the Wars of Religion by showing tolerance to Protestants. The ducal residence is now home to the new Nantes History Museum, with over 800 objects exhibited in a contemporary display setting. A number of multimedia installations enrich the visit.
