Damazan is a good example of an "arcaded bastide". It is also notable for the fact that the multi-coloured facades have to be maintained in those colours by law.

During the months of July and August there is a night market every Tuesday (commencing about 7:00 p.m. with music and dancing. Local merchants arrive selling excellent and very reasonably priced food and wine and the public turn up with their own plates, glasses and cutlery and eat out in the square at tables supplied by the "Mairie". It is a fun night for all the family and not to be missed.
