The best view of the arc is from the river as you canoe under it. It can also be admired from one of the beaches on either side of it.

It is possible to drive along the Corniche, the road which winds alongside the river from the lively, friendly town of Vallon Pont D’Arc all the way down to St. Martin D’Ardeche. There are many breathtaking viewpoints on the route, each one giving a totally different but equally enthralling panorama. Choose a day when visibility is good and you will be well rewarded.

St. Martin is a tourist town with bars, restaurants, shops, a beach area and access to water activies and a nice place to while away some time.

Then cross the Ardeche by the single lane bridge and visit the fabulous medieval town of Aigueze which perches high above the Ardeche Gorge. Discover the tiny streets and picturesque houses. Then find the stunning view of the river as it flows through the valley.

The Grotte de Madeleine or the Grottes de St. Marcel D’Ardeche (one of the largest and most beautiful caves in Europe) are clearly signposted from the Corniche.
