La Bambouseraie de Prafrance

La Bambouseraie is one of the oldest collections of bamboo in Europe. The garden is devoted to the cultivation of bamboo and other exotic plants including camellias, acers, orchids and many other species.

Public Transport:	You can drive to the Bambouseraie or you can travel to the Cevenol town of Anduze and enjoy a ride on the steam train which leaves there for St. Jean du Gard but which halts at the Bambouseraie. Children and adults who do not wish to grow up love this nostalgic trip through lovely scenery. After your visit you may continue the trip to St. Jean or return to Anduze. Alternatively stop at the Bambouseraie on the return trip.
Facilities general:	There are places for refreshment, a very interesting and different gift shop and a garden centre selling an assortment of plants and pots. Nearby in Generargues there are restaurants and cafes.

The park, created in 1855 also has an aquatic garden, large greenhouses and a lake surrounded by elegant and colourful acers. Information is printed or is audible in several languages including English. Besides being extremely beautiful the Bambouseraie is also educational as there is lot to be learned about bamboo and it’s use in the world.
