The Grottes de Villars contain galleries of stalactites and yellow and ochre calcite accumulations, including 17000 year old prehistoric paintings dating from the same period as those at Lascaux.

The caves were first discovered in 1953 and they were opened to the public in 1959. They are on several levels and cover more than 13km in total.
There are regular guided tours in the Summer, some with English speaking guides. These include an audio-visual show giving background information.
