Montmartre

Montmartre is a hill (the butte Montmartre) that gives its name to the surrounding district on the the Right Bank of the Seine River in Paris. Mainly known for the white-domed Basilica of the Sacré Cœur on its summit, it is also a cabaret and nightclub district. Known historically for its Bohemian feel, many artists had studios or worked around the community of Montmartre such as Salvador Dalí, Modigliani, Claude Monet, Pablo Picasso and Vincent van Gogh.
