After crossing the Charente River on one of the Hennessy boats, visitors are guided around the “chais” and introduced to the secrets of cognac making. This is followed by a visit of the Hennessy Museum, a tasting and a browse around the boutique.

After crossing the Charente on a boat flying the Hennessy flag, visitors are ushered into a "chai" or cellar, where cognac is matured. Here are revealed the secrets of the four "crus", from vinification to distillation in two stages, via the art of cooperage, or producing oak casks.

Visitors will be able to discover the world of cognac, thanks to a sophisticated presentation incorporating smells, sounds and images.

Visitors then go into a second, silent cellar filled with the secrets and smells of bygone years. This is where the brandies mature quietly, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Every year, evaporation from the casks accounts for 2% of the final production. In the region this is called the angels’ share, or "la part des anges". This cellar is the very essence of Hennessy and where, after a process of tasting and adjustment, the blends which make up the famous cognacs are produced.

Returning to the left bank of the Charente River, visitors meet up with History. Documents, films and old objects which are part of the company’s heritage tell the story of the Founder, Richard Hennessy, an Irishman who came to France during the reign of Louis XV.

A choice of tastings is available.

At the Boutique des Quais, visitors will find the full range of Hennessy products. Bottles, decanters, presentation boxes and branded items are presented in a welcoming, contemporary setting.
