Saint Foy Abbey

The Saint Foy abbey in Conques was built between the 10th and 12th centuries. The church and cloisters have an international and deserved reputation for their beautiful examples of Roman art. A particularly interesting aspect of the church is the set of carvings of the "curieux" (the curious ones) who are peeking over the edges of the tympanum arch. There is also a renowned golden statue of St Foy herself. The Saint Foy abbey is officially designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
