There is a fantastic choice of mid range hotels in Paris, generally with two or three stars - and four-star hotels can even be available at a good price. Expect a clean room in a reasonably central location with a TV, shower and breakfast. Expect to pay more for picturesque hotels and good views. Most mid range hotels have a lift and some offer extra facilities for disabled guests.

Building restrictions in the city mean that many independent Paris hotels are quite small, personal and full of character. Larger, modern hotels are also available, some run by international chains. High season for hotels in Paris is roughly late Spring to early Autumn, so lower rates and deals can be found outside those months.

With so many options in the mid range, you’ll find a suitable hotel in Paris in almost all locations. The area around Marais and Beauborg – close to the Centre Pompidou and good restaurants - has plenty of reasonably-priced hotels, as does the Latin Quarter on the Left Bank. Even the Louvre, Les Halles, Eiffel Tower, Montmartre and Pigalle areas have cheaper hotels as well as luxury accommodation.

To avoid being overwhelmed by choice of Paris hotels, it makes sense to start your search by the dates you plan to be there. You can also narrow down the selection by choosing, say, only three star accommodation.
