Chateaux Holidays in France
We all have an image of the classic French chateau. It’s approached by a long drive built originally for ornate horse-drawn coaches; its façade is almost impossibly romantic, with rows of shuttered windows, round towers and turrets; it stands in extensive grounds which may include woodland, a lake or even a river. This is definitely not just a dream. Such chateaux still exist – and, through French Connections, you can either book a gorgeous room or rent an entire chateau for a really special French holiday.
Types of French Chateau holiday
Some of our chateaux have been in the same families for centuries and their rooms are sumptuously furnished with fine antiques and brocades, each with its own theme and character. Here, you can enjoy bed and breakfast, champagne and gourmet dining hosted by the current owners, who are happy to talk about the history of their home. By day, you can enjoy the grounds, explore the area, have a massage or take advantage of many exciting activities on offer, like archery, hot air ballooning, surfing, water sports, wine tasting, boules or tennis. Other chateaux available through French Connections have been lovingly restored by new owners and you can rent an apartment, a wing or the entire chateau, either on a totally self-catering basis or with some meals provided. These chateaux have everything you would expect of a luxury holiday home, with beautifully furnished bedrooms, a fully equipped modern kitchen, your own swimming pool with stylish outdoor dining and complete privacy.

Just some of the places you’ll find them are Normandy, the beautiful Loire valley, Burgundy, the Dordogne, Charente-Maritime and the Ardeche.
