The Pigeonnaire started life as a small two roomed French peasants House.

2005 saw it transformed using local materials and traditional methods into a authentic French Pigeonnaire.
The self a catering accommodation now boasts two large bedrooms, one of which has the high ceiling of the Pigeonnaire tower and the other a well presented downstairs bedroom with traditional French beds.

The whole Gite is tiled on the lower floor using re-claimed terracotta tiles. There is much exposed wood,and lime plaster adorns the stone walls to give that feeling of a return to yesteryear.

The views are stunning and face the setting sun. There is an infinity style purpose built pool and the property is set in a private estate of 20 acres.

Jean Blanc, the farm on which the Pigeonnaire is located is still a working arable farm.  It  had cattle on it until M Bertrand, the then owner and neighbour, sold it to the present owners in 2004.

The Pigeonnaire is very spacious comprising of:

• Open Plan kitchen/diner including dishwasher, fridge & 5 ring gas hob and gas oven. The Kitchen leads directly out of  French doors onto private terrace.
• Sitting/living area is accessed directly from the kitchen/diner realising a very large space. The living area incorporates the wrought iron spiral staircase forming the very attractive centre piece of the building.
• The twin bedroom is accessible via three steps off of the hall way  and has its own door leading directly onto the terrace.
• Climbing the spiral staircase you arrive on the landing with exposed traditional ceilings.
• The landing then splits with the bathroom to your right which features power shower, basin and toilet.
• The Master bedroom is found to the left.  A stunning 16 square metre triple aspect room with high ceiling into the Pigeonnaire roof.

About the location

The Pigeonnaire is situated a short drive, just 10 minutes, from Monflanqin the beautiful Bastide town dating back to the 1200's.

The property itself is set within a very peacful private estate of 20 acres but surrounding this is beautiful open countryside with a spattering of old French farms. 

Even though totally private with no close neighbours we are not isolated and only minutes from restaurants and local bakers etc with the larger towns of Villeneuve and Bergerac 20 and 40 minutes respectively.

Eating out is just 10 minutes by car with a variety of restaurants in Monflanquin. In the summer Monflanquin hosts a night market on a thursday where you select you food from one of the stalls and join everyone on tables set out in the square to eat and drink. The atmosphere is brilliant.

How to get here

The property is just 40 minutes easy drive from Bergerac airport which is served by Ryanair and Flybe.

UK airports flying here are Stanstead, Gatwick, Exeter, Southampton, Liverpool, Manchester (please check for others).

Driving is 550 miles from the chanel ports and can be reached in a day by car.
