About the Region

This northern coastal region is in fact composed of two regions - Haute Normandie and Basse Normandie – and it has much to boast about. Undulating countryside, beautiful soft sandy beaches, picture-postcard views and a huge variety of seafood and white fish; with all this on offer, Normandy can be forgiven for its cooler climate.

The total population is almost 3,200,000 (approximately 5% of the French population). Activity here is mostly agricultural, combined with some industry situated near the large port of Le Havre, the city of Rouen, and the Seine River valley.

The 600km of Normandy coastline offers a livelier setting compared to the Norman countryside, with its golden prairies, it’s cool, wooded valleys and its beech and pine forests, which remains a haven of peace and tranquility.

With little villages at every turn, leafy lanes and clear streams, this is the ideal setting in which to buy or rent a property in France.
