Set in a peaceful and rural area on the outskirts of Vence. The villa is within walking distance of the beautiful village of Vence. It takes about 20-25 minutes to walk to the village. It is a downhill-uphill walk and what a reward when you get to the village! With a good choice to cafés and restaurants and some breath-taking views of the surrounding mountains and St Paul de Vence, it is well worth the walk.
Local activities include swimming, tennis (5km), walking (there is a marked trail known as the “GR51” passes just north of the village), cycling, golf (5km near Vence – 14km in Villeneuve Loubet), mountain biking, paragliding and more!
Day Trip Ideas
- Grasse (20km) - Grasse is famous worldwide for its perfumeries and is often hailed as the perfume capital of the world! It even has a museum of perfume. Grasse is a fascinating old town with pretty streets, squares full of life, numerous shops, restaurants, a daily market and a magnificent Cathedral. Grasse gets quite busy especially in August during the festival called “Fete du Jasmin” where you can see floats driving through town throwing flowers into the crowd. Known as the “Bataille de fleurs” (flower battle), onlookers get soaked by their natural perfume. During the event there are fireworks and dancing. If you are looking for something a little different why not visit the caves and grottos built into the porous limestone hills north of Grasse, most of them 4km north rising up to the “Plateau de Caussols”.
- Antibes (23km) - Antibes is a lovely old town with narrow winding streets, a great selection of restaurants, cafes, piano bars, private clubs, theatres and for art lovers the Picasso museum.
- Juan Les Pins (23km) - Sitting next to Antibes is a very attractive coastal resort with gorgeous beaches, exciting nightlife with trendy night clubs, casino and also night shopping!
- Nice (31km) - Glamourous and lively seaside city with a wide range of activities on offer from shopping in Nice’s chic pedestrian precinct, to wandering around the old town with its small shops, busy pubs, restaurants and its famous market. There are also a number of museums to discover (Matisse, Chagall, Palais Lascaris, Art museum MAMAC and many others). Nice’s latest addition is the brand new “Promenade du Paillon” a huge green zone covering twelve hectares and 1.2km long located in the heart of Nice with plants, trees, fountains and play areas. Nice has so much to offer so it is tricky narrowing it down but if you fancy an overview of Nice and see it as shown so often on photos then make your way to Mont Boron mountain which offers spectacular view points to the west over Nice harbour and the whole bay of Nice which is magnificent by day or by night when it is all lit up.
- Cannes (37km) - One of the unmissable jewel of the Cote D’Azur with sandy beaches and large promenade “Croisette”, chic boutiques, classy restaurants, bars, shops and numerous festivals throughout the year, including of course the Cannes Film Festival in May each year.
Nearby Activities
- Vence - One of the most famous and beautiful, perched villages in the Cote D’Azur, Vence has a wonderful artistic heritage with numerous galleries and shops, restaurants and street cafés. The village of Vence comes alive in the summer with its famous Festival and live concerts held in the open-air town square. Tip: Within the village walls there are cafés on the “Place Clémenceau”. This is a great spot to sit and watch activities of this busy square. Recommended places to visit in Vence: Matisse chapel designed and decorated by the artist himself in the late 1940’s. Nearby Saint Paul de Vence: “Fondation Maeght”: Modern art museum. Also, in the village a good selection of shops and restaurants including the world famous Colombe d’Or.
Water parks
- Aquasplash, Antibes (18km). Water park with water slides, wave pool, toboggans, flumes and rubber ring rides as well as the Black Cannon, one of France’s fastest water slides, which propels riders to a speed of 60km per hour.
Theme parks
- Marineland, Antibes (18km) - Located next door to Aquasplash, this animal exhibition park with possibly the greatest marine show in Europe including orcas, dolphins, killer whales, seals and a 30m long tunnel where you are surrounded by sharks. A real thrill for the whole family and a great day out.
- Canyon Forest (12km) - Located in Villeneuve Loubet. An Acrobatic adventure park with 160 tree top challenges of monkey bridges, rope swings, giant zip lines and rock climbing. For the bravest, the longest zip line in France (330m) where you can expect to reach a maximum speed of 70 km per hour. If that’s not enough, there is a 4km maze!
- Pitchoun Forest (14km) - Located in Villeneuve Loubet. 3 min further along from Canyon forest is another Park which is a more accessible course for younger children (from 3 or 1m height to 10). Great Park with 4 courses and lots to do including climbing, balancing. Altogether there are 60 different games and a quiz on animal life.
- Le Village des Fous (14km) - Located in Villeneuve Loubet. Located next to Pitchoun Forest. A 2-hectare park where “madness” is king! Flying baths is great fun. There are various challenges such as climbing, crawling, rope swinging, trails, huge slides, bouncy castles and a lot
