Trouville sur Mer (Calvados)
Trouville is separated from its twin City of Deauville by the Touques River. Trouville is however completely different and is a quieter fishing village with a superb sandy beach that is more family orientated than Deauville.
The charming town of Trouville-sur-Mer, where daily life is still linked with the sea, is famous for its Seawater Cures, the Aquarium and a Nautical centre.
It is a very pretty place sought after by many famous artists from past and present and is a delightful seaside resort created in the early 19th century which harbours a wealth of architectural gems. Busy throughout the year, Trouville offers all services and shops, a daily fishmarket and a large typical French market twice a week on Wednesdays and Sunday mornings.
All around the port you will find a multitude of colourful restaurants to suit everybody’s tastes and they are famous for their choice of menus and the varied food you can enjoy.
The hotel of the famous painting by Claude Monet 'L'Hotel Des Roches Noires' still exists along the beach.
