On my Christmas trip back to La Rochelle, I was delighted to see a new bus line called ILLICO had been introduced in December that will help local people and visitors alike.
I tried this out and travelled from ‘Place de Verdun’ (bus station) to Les Minimes. I was pleasantly surprised as this new generation of buses is certainly less noisy and more comfortable, as well as being fully air conditioned and less polluting than the older buses I am used to.
The route links the North of La Rochelle (Lagord) to the South (Les Minimes) in twenty minutes and provides a more frequent and better quality service, whilst helping to free the city centre from too many cars.
The bus runs from 6:00 to 22:00 Monday to Friday, every 10 minutes (Saturday, 15 minutes).
