Artisan chocolatiers are found all over France and they bring genuine artistic flair to their chocolate making, concocting the finest in both traditional and eclectic recipes.

Dark chocolate is a speciality among French chocolate artisans, as are ganaches. Ganaches are a lusciously smooth blend of chocolate and fresh cream that is whipped, sometimes with butter for added lustre, to produce a slow-melting delicacy.

We first noticed this attractive shop front being displayed on the photograph library on one of our properties near Semur en Auxois.  We visited the area and saw for ourselves the many interesting shops the town had to offer, including this one which had exquisite chocolates as well as mouth watering pastries on offer.

This sort of artisan shop is quite typical in French towns and can be found all over France.
