It’s no secret that the French love food, and France has a strong tradition across its towns and villages of the weekly market.

Visiting in the summer you cannot fail to be impressed by the mountains of locally grown food, peaches, melons, huge tomatoes, courgettes with the flowers still attached and root crops with earth still clinging to them. Not to mention the local cheeses, sausages, handmade terrines and other charcuterie.

The picture above is of bunches of red chilli peppers taken recently at a market in Nice. I wonder if they give them instead of flowers on Valentine’s Day!
