If you have ever visited the Grand Canyon in Arizona then you will also be impressed by The Verdon Gorge (Gorges du Verdon) in France. This canyon is considered by many to be the most beautiful in Europe. It is over 25 kms long and in places over 700 meters deep

The Gorges du Verdon is very popular with visitors and offers many sporting opportunities from walking to rock climbing, horse riding, paragliding and kayacking to name but a few. Of course you can just be lazy and drive around it admiring the views from the stopping points. The scenery is awe-inspiring and if walking you will see a wealth of wildlife and a wide variety of wildflowers and plants.

At the end of the canyon, the Verdon river flows into the artificial lake of Sainte-Croix-du-Verdon where you can go sailing or just sit and relax in one of beaches or picnic areas.
