Journalist Ben Hatch and his family are touring France and reporting for the Telegraph online travel pages. Last week they stayed at L’Ancienne Vigneronne at Mailhac in Languedoc, which is featured in Ben’s latest report.

Caroline and Trevor Rodbard were hosts to the Hatches - Ben, Dinah and their two small children - at their 200 year old wine growers house, providing B&B and a home-cooked evening meal. They had some good stories to tell over dinner about the beautiful little hamlet that is now their home. Mailhac has become unexpectedly famous and its mayor something of a national hero after he stood as a French presidential candidate on a platform of preserving rural traditions.

Under the heading ‘Don’t miss’, Ben Hatch mentions the Mailhac mayor’s fame in his report, as well as the beauty of the evening light. He and Dinah are also working on a guide book to France for Frommer’s, the well known US travel publisher.

L’Ancienne Vigneronne is property ID 102236
