A nice christmas poem to get you in the festive spirit.....

Traditional Christmas Market

We fancied a little Christmas trip, somewhere not too far,
So we headed for Ashford terminal, all packed up in the car,
Our destination Lille with its famous Christmas market,
We bundled out the car, having found somewhere to park it.

A speedy train ride later, we arrived in Northern France,
Our children all excited, doing a happy dance,
We made our way to Place Rihour, following the Ferris wheel,
Bursts of Christmas spirit, we all began to feel.

And there we saw the market, appearing through the dark,
The buzz of people’s merriment giving off a spark
Little French Market stalls, laid out in a row,
Traditional hand made gifts and candles all a glow,

A wonderful shopping experience, tradition dating back years,
A variety of local produce and plenty of fresh gift ideas,
Lots of smiley faces, no one looking stressed!
We enjoyed the French delicacies, my favourite Paris Brest *

After a good few hours shopping, it was time for us to go,
So we returned to the station with a ho ho ho!
Bags brimming with food and drink and lots of exciting pressies
Our bodies all exhausted, but our heads full of fond memories.
