Fine Arts Museum in Rouen (Musee des Beaux-Arts de Rouen)
This renowned museum houses a modest but worthwhile collection, with a wallop of Dutch and Italian masters from the 16th to the 20th centuries, including works by native son Géricault as well as by David, Rubens, Caravaggio, Velasquez, Poussin, Delacroix, Chassériau, Degas, and Modigliani, not to mention the impressive Impressionist gallery, with Monet, Renoir, and Sisley, and the Postimpressionist School of Rouen headed by Albert Lebourg and Gustave Loiseau.
The museum auditorium and sculpture garden are open daily from 10am to 6pm. The bookshop is open from 10am to 6pm, closed on Tuesdays, May 1, Ascension, 8 May, 14 July, 15 August, 1 November, 11 November and 25 December.
