Paraza (Aude)
Paraza is a pretty village situated on the Canal du Midi. It is set on a hill that overlooks the Aude valley. Situated in the village is the Chateau de Paraza which was once the home of the engineer Pierre Paul Riquet, the creator of the Canal du Midi.
Paraza, pronounced para as in paratrooper and za as in Tzar, is medium size village mainly built on the hillside overlooking the Canal. It has a significant English population and two restaurants. The Cafe du Port, situated on the canal bank offers excellent food ant reasonable prices.
Chateau Paraza produces very well respected wines.
