Spacious House in the Lot Valley
Sul Pech is situated on the outskirts of the medieval village of Calvignac which is set on a dramatic outcrop of rock, high above the valley of the River Lot. From its elevated position the house looks over a patchwork of vineyards, tobacco, sunflower and maize fields which border the poplar-lined river; the Château de Cénevières provides a magnificent backdrop.
The village of Calvignac is within 15 minutes of local shops, restaurants and markets at Cajarc and Limogne-en-Quercy and, being equidistant from the towns of Cahors, Figeac and Villefranche-de-Rouergue, is an ideal location to sample the delights, both cultural and sporting, of the Lot and Aveyron.
The First Floor is accessed via wide entrance steps which rise to a covered veranda offering dining and comfy seating areas. The veranda has superb panoramic views over the limestone cliffs of the River Lot valley and the Château de Cénevières. There are French doors onto this veranda from both the living room and the kitchen. Both bedrooms at this level have French doors which open onto a balcony.

French doors lead from the living/dining room to the patio with sunshade - large wooden table and chairs, BBQ.
From this terrace and the upper veranda you descend directly down a few steps, framed by aromatic and shrub borders, to the pool.
Heated pool, tennis court and the grounds. The pool has its own paved terrace and lawns with sun-loungers and parasols. The pool measures 12 x 6m plus steps. It has an automatic robot cleaner and a security alarm system. A security fence can be put up around the pool if requested for small children but is not normally in place.
Beyond the immediate pool area are the grounds, which to one side have a group of cherry and plum trees, ideal for snoozing in the shade on the hammock, and to the other, a tennis court and a more open area where children (and adults) can play. Adjacent to the house is an open barn with covered parking for 3 cars. Also provided are table tennis and bikes.
Amenities and places of interest
Calvignac is situated in the south east of the department of the Lot, close to its border with the Aveyron.
The village is a tranquil, widespread rural commune, having a total population of 200, a very small proportion of whom live in ‘le bourg’. There is a magnificent cliff-side creperie. Several ‘beaches’ and excellent fresh water fishing are close at hand in the rivers Lot and Célé.
The nearest general store and post office are 5 minutes drive away at Cenevieres. Cajarc and Limogne, both 10 minutes drive, offer regular local markets and a full range of shops and restaurants; just East of Limogne, is a nature reserve with lake, walking trails and fishing.
The two principal towns of the Lot region are Figeac and Cahors, and just over the border in the Department of the Aveyron, Villefranche de Rouergue. All are within 40 minutes drive of Calvignac, and each, with its own distinctive architectural character, offer the full complement of culture and history, markets and music festivals, riverside locations and street-side cafes.
With its long-dated history, the area is rich in places of interest. The magnificently preserved medieval villages of St-Cirq-Lapopie and Rocamadour, the prehistoric cave paintings at Pech Merle, the superb working museum of agricultural life at Cuzals, and the 13th century Chateau de Céneviares.
Many leisure pursuits are available: walking and horse riding on the many designated trails, cycling around the peaceful villages, canoeing on the white water of the River Célé, and you can even water ski at the plan d’eau of Cajarc.

The balance is due 8 weeks before your holiday - Bed linen, towels and pool towels are provided at no extra charge.
Low season heating is charged by electric meter reading and the cost of logs for the open fire (between 1 October and 30 April). - You should arrange a comprehensive travel insurance policy (including cancellation cover) and to have full insurance cover for the party’s personal belongings, damage caused to the owners’ property, public liability etc., since these are not covered by the Owners’ insurance.
- Guests are requested not to smoke in the house and it is regretted that pets are not accepted.
