My family of 5 stayed here for a week and we all wished it could have been for longer. We arrived very late (10.30pm) after a much longer journey from Calais (roadworks etc) than usual. I let Wendy (the owner) know that we would be late and she told us she had put some wine and beers in the fridge for our arrival - this actually kept my husband going for the last 2 hours!! The house itself surpassed our expectations - so clean and spacious and beautifully decorated. You can tell it's been a real labour of love. We all had the best night's sleep - the beds/mattresses/linen made us so comfortable. Seeing the house/surroundings in the light for the first time the next morning did not disappointment. The pool area is stunning with loads of sunloungers and cushions, and a loo by the pool. The gardens are all beautifully kept (a full time job I imagine). Wifi/ TV with UK stations/ DVD player. I can honestly say I have never stayed in a holiday home with such a well equipped kitchen - it literally had everything you could ever need. And all so clean!! Wendy is an absolute delight. And the area so very beautiful - so many lovely towns/villages to explore (Cadouin/Beaumont/Issigeac/Le Bugue). You'll love it!!Guest rating:
Great accommodation and an awe inspiring location. We were made very welcome from the outset and throughout by our able host Wendy who had painstakingly and expertly considered all the details to ensure we had everything we needed. Le Grand Reve was full of character and points of interest and was beautifully decorated throughout, the kitchen was well equipped with top quality appliances. One of the many highlights was the idyllic pool area (especially for the kids) with lovely comfy loungers and a shaded area for dining. Pool and table tennis were firm favourites in the early evenings before dinner Overall the outside space was fantastic with amazing gardens and a BBQ area. Dining together under the vine covered pergola with a glass of excellent quality and very affordable local wine was the perfect way to finish off the day. Needless to say we dined very well with exquisite fruit and vegetables provided by Wendy from her garden and gathered from the wonderful local markets. We did not have to travel far to enjoy the locality with excellent restaurants and markets selling the wonderful and plentiful local products. We also particularly enjoyed canoeing and wild swimming in the mild waters of the Dordogne river.Guest rating:
We had the most wonderful holiday at Le Grand Reve! The house is stunning. Set in lovely quiet countryside amongst beautiful gardens. Our children loved the pool area and spent hours playing happily here while we relaxed on the sunloungers round the pool. We all enjoyed playing pool once the sun had gone down in the games area and enjoyed the wonderful local produce sitting on the outdoor terrace and barbecuing in the evenings. We found the house to be spacious well equipped and comfortable. The owner was especially lovely and it was lovely to have her advice on local places of interest and recommendations. Our family especially loved the local canoeing trips and swimming in the Dordogne river which was warm and wonderfully clean. A fabulous holiday all round where we left with many happy memories. Thank you to Wendy for making us so welcome.Guest rating:
We spent a perfect two-week holiday in Wendy‘s wonderful 400-year-old country house in Labattut. The house is very well maintained, lovingly furnished and fully equipped. The location is wonderful, the property is large and well-kept, various sports facilities (billards, table tennis, volleyball, boules) are available and the pool is large with very nice views. The next village with restaurants and bakery is five kilometres away. The location of the house is perfect to experience the variety of the Périgord - castles and palaces, markets, historic villages, paddling on Dordogne on Vézère, caves, wineries and much more. All this is rounded off by the wonderful hostess Wendy, who was always warmly and unobtrusively available to give us tips or help us. We will definitely be back.Guest rating:
Superb property - beautifully furnished and equipped. Owner on hand should you need anything.
Plenty of space for a family to enjoy without being on top of each other. Swimming pool is spectacular. Very well equipped throughout.Guest rating:
We have just returned from spending 2 weeks - 28/7/18 to 11/8/18. A group of 8 friends had the privilege of staying at this beautiful accommodation. Wendy the owner has worked so hard on making this property not only a beautiful home but a perfect vacation venue for a large group. Everything you need is provided and we visited so many beautiful places whilst we were there. We as a group would highly recommend it. Wendy ensured our stay was perfect and was always available to answer any questions we had or kindly book tables in restaurants for us. Certainly a holiday we will never forget.

We had three generations of a family stay here from 21st July- 28th July and loved it.the house has everything and it’s location is amazing. Wendy the owner was so helpful when we needed taxis, advice about restaurants and we enjoyed having a bottle of wine with her and hearing how she restored this lovely french house. We couldn’t fault it , Thankyou Wendy xGuest rating:
Fabulous area, wonderful house, and gorgeous pool
We spent 8 days at Le Grand Reve in July with all the family and grand children. Perfect location for adults and children alike with plenty to do and in a safe location. From big family bbq's to great afternoons spent in the pool. Wendy is the perfect 'hostess' and it was a pleasure to spend this time in her wonderful house and grounds.Guest rating:
My family and I have just had a fabulous week in Wendy’s beautiful home, and her hospitality was the best I’ve experienced. It’s the most peaceful spot, with gorgeous views and surrounding area. The facilities were spot on, with a fantastic fully equipped kitchen, and a choice of seating areas, perfect for extended family get-togethers like ours. Our stay wasn’t long enough, I could have happily stayed for a month. I’m usually ready to come home after a week anywhere, but this time I could happily have stayed a lot longer.’ You’ve created an oasis of calm, but offering everything to keep all ages happy Will definitely return..

We chose Le Grand Reve this July to celebrate a special passage in our family life, our 40th wedding anniversary. Eight of us, aged 2-64, thoroughly availed ourselves of the amenities of this beautifully appointed restored house in the most serene country setting imaginable and of Wendy's generous yet unobtrusive hospitality. The terrace is located off the kitchen and has 'night lighting' ; convenient for our late night get-togethers with wine and cheese. The pool and games room on the other side of the house has been appointed with every possible need in mind and provided hours of pleasure. The poolside view over the countryside is nothing short of magnificent. Wendy, the owner, was there-but-not-there: the house is totally private but if we had questions or needed advice we could always knock on her door. It was a winning combination for us; she even went out to meet one of the members of our party to show him the way to the house. She shared the delicious bounty of her vegetable garden with us as well. In the house is a complete folder with activities. We were happy just taking country walks in the area and hanging out on the terrace and around the swimming pool during our one week stay but still managed to have dinner in the local village (also booked for us by Wendy) and visited a market and a vineyard. This location offered the three couples in our party ample privacy; private bed-and-baths, crisp linens on the beds, lovely large towels and plenty of space. The common areas to lounge and read, both inside and out, are lovely. Breakfast and dinner on the terrace and drinks by the pool was our usual schedule and for the in-between times there was enough for everyone to do. We had a fantastic and rejuvenating holiday experience and recommend it with no reservations whatsoever. Big thanks for Wendy for helping us to celebrate our anniversary in a very special way.

I rented Le Grand Reve for three weeks this summer, and welcomed several groups of friends and family to share the house with me while we toured the beautiful Dordogne and Vezere river valleys. The house is everything Wendy’s pictures promise, and more. A 16th century farmhouse, it has been lovingly restored and updated, with thoroughly modern appliances and a well-stocked kitchen. We had great fun choosing delicious fruits and vegetables in the various markets, bringing them home and cooking them. The stone and exposed beams are beautiful and authentic, and both dining tables - inside and outside the house - are handmade, beautiful old wood, with pegs instead of nails or screws. Everyone, young and old, enjoyed the swimming pool, ping pong and pool tables, and sitting out on the terrace watching the moon rise over the house as the sky filled with more stars than you can imagine was frequently the way we ended our days. The peace of this place is tangible, and restoring. The beds are beautifully made up for you with quality linens. Wendy has prepared a notebook filled with tips about places to see, market days for the many Dordogne villages, vineyards to visit, and she will be happy to help in any way she can so that your visit is all you ever hoped it to be. Mine was a dream come true, and I can only imagine it will be the same for you. Several of my friends wanted to add their thoughts: Wendy has thought of everything to make this house a home for visitors. But, in addition to being practical, Le Reve is beautifully serene, soothing and inspiring. ~ Maya I thoroughly enjoyed the week at Le Grand Reve and highly recommend anyone looking to rent a home in the Dordogne to contact Wendy. She has thought of everything .... pool towels, blow dryer -- no need to carry in your suitcase as they are available. Beautiful place! ~ Dorothy It was perfect! ~ Mary Ann If your dream is to stay in a beautiful home in the bucolic countryside of Southern France, look no further. This 16th century house has been lovingly restored by the owner. Wendy obviously has a decorator's eye and taste for detail. The beds and bedding are top notch and I slept like a baby every night. I simply never wanted to leave. In a word - idyllic. ~ Catherine Wonderful way to both step back in history and yet come back to the comforts of home. ~ John We want to live here! ~ my grandchildren and their two friends

I planned for this holiday for 12 months for our party ranging in age from 64 years to 5 months and expectations were high, but all dreams were realised and more, at this exceptional property. The accommodation was of an extremely high standard with nothing overlooked, scrupulously clean and well maintained, and the pool area was enjoyed to the full by the whole family where there was laughter and fun aplenty. Table tennis, skittles, pool table, or simply lounging in the beautiful sunshine, there was something to suit everyone. Nothing was too much trouble for the resident owner, who was discrete but always available. Her friendship was highly valued and assistance for any query always readily available. An opportunity to 'Get away from it all' in a beautiful and picturesque area, it was truly a dream holiday from which none of us wanted to wake up! Highly recommended!Guest rating:
We are sorry we have to leave "Le Grand Reve". We came looking for sunshine and a comfortable house, we've had both in abundance, in exception. You and your beautiful home are the exception. Thank you so much, Wendy for your caring for us and your friendship these two weeks. We all have found it hard to leave here. Thank you so much! We considered chaining ourselves to loungers or hiding in the toilet because we just don't want to go ... :(Guest rating:
We had a wonderful holiday in Le Grand Reve. The house is beautifully presented and maintained by Wendy the owner. Wendy made us so welcome and was an excellent source of advice on the area. All family members both young and old, had a wonderful holiday around the pool or exploring the surrounding areas. We would definitely recommend a stay hereGuest rating:
We arrived at Le Grand Reve to a very warm welcome from Wendy after a long drive. A meal had been pre-booked for us by Wendy at L'Abbaye in Cadouin that evening which was very welcome and enjoyed by all. It was so nice and great value for money that we visited it again during our stay. We had a lovely family holiday with all our grown up children and their partners and it could not have been better. We all now have lots of lovely memories of our time together in France. The highlight of each day was the evening meal around the table in the garden, with each couple taking a turn at cooking the dinner and the others happy to wait whilst sampllng the local wines. We had many an hour lounging by the lovely swimming pool combined with competitive games of boules, ping pong, and pool with lots of laughter and banter to be heard. The house is amazing and we would happily stay again if we ever holiday in the Dordogne again. Wendy was always discreetly around watering the garden and picking vegetables and able to answer any of our questions and offer advice when needed.Guest rating:
This delightful home meets my 3 p's. Pleasure, Peace, Play. A place to create your holiday memories that will last forever

A holiday you won't want to come home from, a wonderful gite, where the pictures only tell half the story. A fabulous gite that makes your holiday, where the owner cannot be more helpful.

We stayed at Le Grand Reve in August and it is our best holiday to date. The house was beautiful, clean and cozy and the house and the beautiful garden made it the perfect place to relax. The area has lots of great things to do and the water park was brilliant. Wendy is the perfect host and has thought of every little detail to make your stay perfect. As soon as we can organise it we will be back for a second stay at Le Grand Reve.

Le Grand Rêve is indeed like something you could only dream about – however it is real and it is absolutely perfect!

Delightfully converted and quality-equipped spacious character property in a quiet rural setting centred between the pretty and historic communities of Cadouin, Monpazier and Beaumont. Lovely outside eating area and plenty of room to roam. Nicely situated pool and games areas to keep all ages amused. Highly recommended.

What a wonderful welcome and beautiful home! We had a wonderful time at Le Grand Rêve, it was such a shame that we were only with you for one week. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The quality of our accommodation and facilities reflects the hard work and commitment put into the property by our delightful hostess Wendy. This is a great place to get away from it all and relax. You really do have everything you need here, so once you have your provisions sorted (mainly wine, cheese and bread for us!), you can sit back and chill out. There are plenty of games to play ranging from board games to table tennis. All that remains to do is plan a return visit! Thank you once again for a fabulous holiday and letting us share your home.

Had a wonderful stay at Le Grand Reve. It was great to stay in such a well furnished and comfortable house and grounds with everything you require. The pool is fab, and the boys all enjoyed the ping pong!
Wendy is a great host and we all enjoyed the fruit and vegetable basket she provided.
Without doubt we will return again.

Two Yorkshire-based families enjoyed a wonderful sunny week in the beautiful Grand Reve. From our first approaches up the driveway to the morning we left the stay was a total joy. The house is pristine, tastefully furnished throughout to the highest spec' - and with a kitchen dining room we only wish we could have rolled up and taken home. Every pot, pan, gadget and equipment you could wish for is there - and the island became a meeting point for chefs, wine drinkers and children alike. In short: everything worked and worked perfectly.
The real joy in summer is of course the considerable grounds, which pictures struggle to do justice to. The lovely (spotless) pool, plentiful loungers and shaded terrace across the courtyard offered hours of bliss for all ages - as well as a stunning view across the valley. At the rear of the house is the show stopper - a long narrow French Oak dining table, terrace covered of course - where we enjoyed several happy meals - including a coq au vin which tested the kitchen to the full (as did home made pizza night requiring Kenwood Mixer!)
None of this is an accident. It is a result of the passion, hard work and personality of owner Wendy. Discreetly every morning flowers are watered, the pool cleaned, the loungers made ready and the veg patch tended. Wendy is there to answer your questions, however trivial, and just wants you to love the house as much as she and her family so evidently do.
A house aptly named: as the rain falls back here in England, the holiday already seems like it was a big dream. Enjoy the Grand Reve, you will not be disappointed.Guest rating:
This was the perfect holiday in one of the nicest properties we have ever stayed in. The owner was extremely helpful and although she and her family live on site they were so quiet we weren't aware they were there!
The property was immaculate, very well equipped and furnished and the kitchen possessed every item of cooking equipment you or Michel Roux could want.
Plenty to see and do in a very unspoilt part of the Dordogne
We couldn't recommend it more highly.

Le Rêve has been the perfect place to relax and unwind. We have really enjoyed our stay. There are lots of things to do without the hassle of traffic. It is set in a peaceful rural hamlet but is still just minutes away from some of the most beautiful and interesting sights in the Dordogne. The property is thoughtfully laid out and had all the features you could need.
