The barns are ideally situated in a countryside setting in the golden triangle between the historic 'Cité Médiévale' of Gourdon, medieval Sarlat and the pilgrim site of Rocamadour.
We are close to the Dordogne river where you can experience all kinds of activities from just relaxing on the river beach to hiring canoes to lazily paddle down river stopping off for a picnic lunch or a drink at one of the many café bars or take a trip on a historic Gabbare at Beynac.
If pre-history is your thing this area has world renowned caves to visit with world heritage status cave paintings to view. Indeed one of these is just 5 minutes up the road.

We have just returned from a great two-week family holiday in Nicotiana. We were 10 in number from 13 to 81 years. It’s in a beautiful location in the Dordogne and within reach of so many historical attractions. We got to visit caves, chateaux, local markets, lovely towns and villages, enjoyed a 16 kilometre canoe run down the Dordogne and great walks and cycle runs. We cooked in and ate out as the mood took us.
The accommodation has been well developed and the warm welcome extended to us by Bob and Megan could not have been better. The 9 of us who arrived on the evening of the first day greatly appreciated the welcome pack and excellent meal provided by Megan. And her lemon drizzle cake is just superb – didn’t last long with our lot! Bob and Megan were always on hand to offer advice and were most generous in allowing us to remain (free of charge) for two extra days necessitated by illness.
A great family holiday that will live long in our memories.Guest rating:

Canoeing on the Dordogne is brilliant very safe . Coffee shops/bars they are all good . If you are looking for a location for cycling this is it , great roads almost no pot holes, drivers are pretty much all cyclists friendly, we visited some amazing places all by bike ?. Thanks again Bob 10 out of 10.

Enjoyed 10 days here in September with three small dogs and had a lovely time. The welcome pack was fantastic as was the decision to have a meal upon arrival, simply divine and highly recommend. BoB and Megan made us feel most welcome, as they did your three dogs. Our hosts provided us with all the information about the area we should need and were good enough to share their experiences of moving to France, which we intend to do also. Relaxing location, but within easy drive to many great days out such as Domme and Sarlat. Thanks Bob and Megan for all your time during our stay, I am sure we will see you again.

Just returned from a fantastic holiday here; Bob made booking very easy and gave me all of the information that i needed, the welcome pack was a lovely thought after a long drive Megan's lemon drizzle cake was beautiful. The house had everything we needed for a self catering holiday, and the kids loved the garden and board games provided, me and my husband are looking at booking again for next year but for two weeks this time as one week in this beautiful house and area just wasn't enough. Thanks for a fantastic family holiday in your stunning house.

We have had a fantastic time here in the Dordogne. The meal on arrival prepared by Megan was delicious and the welcome pack was gratefully received. The house is really comfortable and has everything you need. We were blessed by the weather and we all enjoyed the attractions in the area – There really is something for all ages here. It was great to have Bob & Megan next door and they really helped by providing that local knowledge that makes all the difference. Will be recommending to others and planning to return ourselves. Many thanks for a great stay.

Thanks to Megan & Bob for a lovely place to stay.It is so central to lot of places of interest. You have created a lovely holiday home and the little details you have incorporated really adds to the experience- the pinny for the kitchen, the welcome supplies on arrival, lovely soft towels and the best hairdyer in the world – no need for straightners. So a thoroughly enjoyable holiday and we will definitely be recommending this place to friends & family.

Superb home made lemon drizzle cake along with a surprise welcome pack greeted our arrival which was much needed and appreciated after a long journey. We could not ask for more from our host who is extremely helpful and kind.We loved our stay here and the peaceful rural setting suited us well. The photos of the barn before / during renovation were lovely to see. This is a very comfy place to stay and is so well stocked especially the kitchen – more here than mine at home!! We really hope you are successful with the gite and hope to return again in future.

The house, the decoration and the equipment provided is just right. Quiet and peaceful and when we arrived we were welcomed by our pre-booked 3 course meal + wine which was extremely welcome after driving down from Brittany. The food was delicious and an unexpected bonus was the lovely welcome pack provided by Megan who is so hospitable and welcoming without being in any way intrusive. She has put her special touches to this wonderful gite. I shall be highly recommending this place.

Great accommodation, well fitted out - good touches with free wi-fi, i-pad docking & freeview TV. Loads to do – great welcome. The welcome pack with wine and home made cake show that this is more than just a business – this is people who care that we have a good welcome / holiday. We will recommend to others.

We have just spent a lovely 2 weeks here with our lively year old retriever. The gite is a delight- spacious, fully and beautifully equipped. It provided a haven of coolness when the heat & humidity outside became too much. The enclosed garden & decking was ideal fro biscuit the dog. Having Megan on hand was a great boon. She told us of walks, places to eat and visit and nothing was too much trouble for her. The piece de resistance though was the meal she had ready for us on our very late traffic delayed arrival. It was so welcome and absolutely superb. We loved the area – the gentle countryside, the beautiful villages and the river Dordogne along with the markets and friendship of all the French people we met. All in all it’s been a super holiday- Thank you Megan.
Guest rating:
We had a great stay in the barn-very well equipped especially the kitchen. It is decorated to a high standard. Thank you for looking after us and making us feel at home. Definitely one of our best holidays.
Guest rating:
Really enjoyed our stay here. The house is really comfortable and has way more equipment than our house back in the UK. Having access to some good old british tv in the evenings after a long day sightseeing was definitely a bonus. The local area is great for all kinds of outdoor activities. We did plenty of canoeing, cycling and visiting beautiful picturesque towns like Sarlat. The wi-fi was also reliable for keeping in touch with people. All in all a brilliant holiday where our hosts have taken great care of us. Thank you.
Guest rating:
What a find! From the moment we walked in we regretted having only managed to get the accommodation for four days and wished we had been there for our full two weeks in France. Everything had been thought of with well equipped and beautifully presented accommodation (lovingly restored by the family). On day one, having driven for nearly eight hours we were greeted by Megan who immediately made us feel at home. Table laid and the meal she had prepared ready to heat up while we unpacked - the food was just delicious and well worth the money. We would highly recommend anyone staying at Nicotiana to definitely pre-order this. The area was beautiful and our three teenage children spent two days swimming, sunbathing and canoeing at the Dordogne River in St Julien. We also spent some time at the Lake (complete with sandy 'beach', fishing and pedalos) in La Mouline, Grolejac and ate at the La Table du Maris Restaurant - recommended by Megan and well worth the visit. This is such excellent accommodation with lovely hosts ... and the only reservation we have in recommending it is that it will affect its availability for us on our next visit to France!!
