Exclusive Stone Cottage, Private Pool, Olives & Vines, 12 acre plot
A dream retreat in the middle of the French vineyards and the olive trees! Very rare property, with a 20 acre plot and no neighbours to be seen. Amazingly quiet, though all amenities are 5 minutes away. Discover the local markets, vineyards, convent.
Please note that we have no wi-fi and a limited 3G access.
This cottage is called 'Cabanon' in the South of France, and is an antique property that belonged to our ancestors who used to farm the surrounding lands producing local olive oil, wine, and much more. The wine of our production can still be found at the Ste Croix domain nearby.
The cabanon has 2 floors. All the rooms are in the ground floor except for the master bedroom:
- Entrance to open plan kitchen fully equipped with washing-machine, dishwasher, oven, cooker, microwave, kettle, Nespresso coffee machine...
- Kitchen opens to living room with a sofa, a TV and an ornemantal fire place
- From the kitchen, access to the upper floor where you will find a large double bedroom with Air conditioning, a 160x200 cm double bed, a single bed and a cot
- The upper floor also offers a brand new bathroom, with its shower and WC
- On the other side of the living room, a separate dining room with stone walls, with a sofa
- From the dining room, you will access the second bathroom with shower and a separate WC
Outside
You will love the outdoor space with a covered terrace, a large pool (8x4 meter wide) with the view on the vineyards and a lot of land if you like to hike! last but not least, a real 'petanque' court has been created.
Pool is open from May to September. It can be open in October for an additional 50 euros/week.
The cottage is suitable for a maximum 2 adults and 1 child under 10.
For safety reasons, barbecues are not allowed.
This region is one of the most authentic areas of Provence and is rich in culture (the Thoronet convent is only 3 miles away and they organize concerts in the summer, Cotignac has its own film festival...), local products (olive oil, wine, foie gras, farmers markets, night market in Carces on Thursday night...), near the lakes (Carces has a lake 5 min away, you can also visit the Ste Croix lake and the Verdon canyons, only 30 minutes away) and sand beaches (45 minutes away), and exquisite medieval villages such as Carces, Cotignac, Lorgues, Le Thoronet and Correns, and organic labelled village where Brad Pitt owns a castle.
There are many restaurants, bars, and shops to choose from, less than 5 minutes away, and you can also go to the beach for the day if you need a crowd fix! St Tropez, Frejus/St Raphael and Ste Maxime are only 45 minutes away while Cannes and Nice can be reached in 1 hour.
All activities are available in less than 30 min from the house. The only difficulty will be to find the time to try them all!!!

How to get to La Saumiere
You can either drive to the house (15 min away from 'Le Cannet/Le Luc' motorway exit, take a train (Les Arcs Draguignan is 15 min away, St Raphael/Valescure 45 min and Aix en Provence as well), or fly to Nice (1 hour, many direct flights from London and other UK cities), Toulon Hyeres (1 hour away, a direct daily flight from London City), or Marseille/Marignane (1h15).

Excellent pre-stay booking support. Secluded grounds but not far from the road. No neighbouring houses within sight. Big paved/covered terrace and brand new gas bbq for outside eating. Decent size pool, sparkling clean. Interestingly furnished cottage, which we would describe as shabby chic, with bags of character. It really is situated right in the middle of a vineyard. Peaceful and charming. In the middle of Green Provence, approximately 10k from Lorgues and Cotignac (interesting markets) and around an hour from the stunning Gorges Du Verdon and turquoise Lac St Croix. It is very unusual to be able to rent a property of this type in Provence and we have not found anything like this before in many years of renting. We had a great holiday!Guest rating:
We spent very calm and relaxing week at this beautiful, well equipped and clean house. Claude and his wife showed us everything and left us with some shopping tips and bottle of delicious rose vine. The location is good, less than ten minutes drive to either the village of Le Thoronet or Carces. We made many trips as both the coast and the mountains (Gordes du Verdon) are not more than an hour's journey away. The rest of our time we spent at the refreshing pool. There is also a barbecue, just bring your own oil and spices, as there is only salt in the kitchen. But that is a small thing and we recommend the house without a doubt.

We had a great time and Provence surprised us with the amount of vineyards in the area - we weren't expecting that and made the most of them!
The house was lovely and had everything we needed and it was great eating out on the terrace every night. It was also nice and cool inside when the days got really hot.
