How to get to Villa Rossinyol
From Girona Airport:
Join the AP7 motorway to France “Francia”. This is signposted from the airport and is a left hand exit off the first big roundabout from the airport.
The AP7 motorway in Spain automatically becomes the A9 when you cross the border into France. Turn off at the first exit in France number 43, sign posted “Le Boulou”. Then go through a series or roundabouts, keep heading for Argeles, Port Vendres or Collioure on the D618.
Continue for 5 minutes until you see a turn off for Montesquieu des Alberes. Follow the sign to the village going straight on at the small roundabout, past the church on the left. Then take the first turning on the right (Rue de la Fontaine). This is a winding road which you follow for around half a mile. Follow the road round to the left. Rossinyol is the 5th house on the right after that turning.
From Perpignan Airport:
The road leaving the airport takes you to a large roundabout, where you will see a large red circle/wheel showing the traditional Catalan dancing actually on the roundabout itself.
Go straight over following the signs to PERPIGNAN CENTRE.
Immediately after the roundabout no more than 10 meters get into the right hand lane and follow signs for the N9 which takes you down onto a dual carriageway towards PERPIGNAN CENTRE.
Ignore the first two exits for St Esteve and Bas Vernt and continue heading for Perpignan.
You then go over a large bridge, keep in the right hand lane as just over the bridge you take the first right hand turning to PRADES and THUIR the signpost is marked A9 ST CHARLES, PRADES and THUIR.
You then drop down onto another dual carriageway. On your right at this time is the river.
Follow the road until you come to a roundabout, go straight over following the signs to THUIR, PRADES and ST CHARLES.
Get into the far left hand lane as after approx half a km the road forks into three and you need to take the far left fork, again sign posted to THUIR.
Follow the road until you come to the next roundabout, take the 2nd exit sign posted A9 BARCELONA and LE BOULOU.
You are now in an industrial area. Follow the road until you come to the next roundabout where you take the 3rd exit sign posted THUIR, GD ST CHARLES / A9 BARCELONA. You will actually get onto the A9 motorway so keep heading for it.
You are still in an industrial area.
Follow the road to the next roundabout and take the 2nd exit sign posted THUIR, A9 BARCELONA.
After approx 1km get into the left hand side and go straight ahead to the tolls at the A9 motorway. Take a ticket then head towards Barcelona.
Go only 1 junction and get off at junction 43 sign posted Le Boulou.
Then go through a series or roundabouts, keep heading for Argeles, Port Vendres or Collioure.
This is the D618, keep going, for about 5 minutes until you see a turn off for Montesquieu des Alberes. Head for the village, going straight on at a small roundabout, past the church on your left. Then take the first turning on the right (Rue de la Fontaine). This is a winding road which you follow for around half a mile. Follow the road to the left. Rossinyol is the 5th house on the right.

We had 2 glorious weeks in this wonderful Villa. The property was well maintained and very comfortable with lots of bedrooms and bathrooms to cater for our family of 8 adults and 4 children. The kitchen had everything you needed to cater for yourself and lounges were spacious with lovely seating overlooking the garden and pool area. Out door space was plentiful to enjoy both sun and shade. Eating outdoors was a must and we chose where to eat to capture the lovely views during different times of the day - early morning sunrises not to be missed. The wonderful large pool and expanse of surrounding area ensured our grandchildren and adults alike could have fun both in and out of the pool. The pool was well maintained. The Manager Bob ensured our stay went smoothly giving good advice both before and during our stay. He was attentive to any minor issues and monitored to ensure we were completely satisfied with the result. Having not been able to meet all of our family together for such a long time due to the pandemic this was a holiday to remember for us all. Villa Rossinyol was the perfect choice for this to happen.Guest rating:
Translation: We were a group of motorcyclists and were very enthusiastic about the house, we had enough space, the rooms are very spacious and the house is very nicely decorated and everything is there what you need. The pool was very clean and big enough for everyone. We were very sad that we had to go again. But we will be back. The landlords are very nice, the communication was great, the transfer of the house was impeccable and the departure was also without problems. The deposit was in my account 3 days later. Conclusion: highly recommended and without complaints, keep it up.

We have stayed in many villas in this area, and Villa Rossinyol is over and above our favourite. We stayed as a couple and were joined for a few days by some family, and the villa is quite simply enormous! Very clean and tidy and the aircon was a godsend as we were in a heat wave of 46 degrees! A perfect location for the coast and shopping trips to Spain. The pool is superb and it was always a wrench to leave its side. We had many barbecue evenings at the villa and invested in a paella pan (which we left for future guests use) and had a wonderful barbecue paella evening. The only thing to mention is that the sink in the outdoor kitchen isn't working and that could be useful. But it's a very minor issue!! However, we loved our stay so much, we have already booked our return for 2021!Guest rating:

We have been home from our visit to this beautiful house for about a month now so my review is objective and not remembered through "holiday tinted specs."
My partner and I, along with our Staffie dog, were very warmly and genuinely welcomed by Bob on our arrival. That was a relief, our dog being welcomed and not just tolerated. It boded well for the start of our holiday. There was only two of us so the house was cavernous but also homely at the same time. The kitchen was beautiful, clean and well appointed and the living room comfortable. The wifi here was very good and reliable. The time of year we went meant that the pool was not utilised as much as we would have liked but the outside facilities were second to none and the whole area is beautiful and relaxing. The pool is completely private and not overlooked by neighbours, it is also heated but maybe not quite heated enough for lesser brave souls out of season.
The master bedroom downstairs was gorgeous with huge mirrored built in wardrobes and had en suite shower room with toilet and bidet. My personal view of the bed was that it was way too soft and I found it uncomfortable and back-achey but this is subjective, my partner slept soundly enough. The master bedroom had air conditioning but we did not need to use it.
The garden was a surprise and was much enjoyed by our dog. Beyond the walls of the pool area is a large wooded garden which falls away level by level into the small valley. It's absolutely huge! The perimeter of the whole property is securely fenced so animals (and small children!) cannot escape.
The house is in a beautiful and peaceful location situated a small drive from the village. It's probably walking distance but as there are no shops as such here, we only drove there usually on our way to somewhere else. Some beautiful mountain walks start from the top of Montesquieu and there is a free carpark in the centre of the village if you need it. We were well aware of the lack of bakeries and shops of convenience in the village and it wasn't a problem but occasionally it was a bit of a drag having to drive for the morning baguette. All in all it was a fabulous holiday, we are already seriously considering a return trip to the house next year and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend the place to others, so why 4 stars? Only a couple of niggles with minor maintenance stuff really and I'm really scraping the barrel to say it. The place is fabulous, go there, you won't regret it!!

This was our second visit to Villa Rossinyol and it felt like coming home. Bob & Helena are very welcoming and accommodating and nothing is too much trouble, this is usually advice on best restaurants and shopping, rather than any issues with the villa. We are an extended family varying in ages from 17 to 74 but everyone enjoys the atmosphere and lazy days at the villa. The property is expertly looked after and cleaned, and the pool is cleaned weekly. There are no facilities in the village but it is only a very short daily drive to Le Boulou for the fresh daily supplies, then down to serious swimming, sunbathing or relaxing in the shade with the Kindle! The various cooking facilities are excellent and facilitate outdoor dining. The villa also has it own extensive garden area so picnics are another dining option. The villa has the most wonderful 360 degree views from Des Alberes, to Mt Canigou and round to the coastal plain. As one of our members is enjoying a 40th birthday at the beginning of July next year we have already booked the villa for a quiet family celebration and Bob & Helena are invited to join us!

This really is a superb place to stay if you are looking for peace and quiet and loads of space!
Giving four rather than five stars is nitpicking really as overall the villa is extremely well appointed, clean, modern, and loads of space but I have taken one star off as there were just a couple of minor maintenance things (although these did not affect our enjoyment of the place) and the location means you need a car for everything. The private pool was great, large enough to swim in with peaceful views of the hills beyond on the spacious patio. There is no shop within walking distance and we couldn't find a bar or restaurant open either in the little village nearby but we would very happy to return as this is a great part of France to explore, as well as only 20-30 mins drive from Spain.
Guest rating:
We found the property exceeded our expectations which was a bonus. We were a party of 9, ages ranging from 17 to 73 years old. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the facilities at Villa Rossinyol, the large heated pool was the focal point for all of us, the catering facilities both by the pool and within the villa were excellent and all the rooms were well appointed with air conditioning in the bedrooms. We spent many evenings using the bbq and poolside kitchen to prepare supper, which we then ate at the tables provided by the poolside.
The views from the property were stunning. We were looking for a quiet location with a relatively short commute to the coast and this property fitted the bill. We visited both Argeles sur Mer and Collioure which everyone thoroughly enjoyed. Collioure is just a wonderful little port to wander round and we dined at a restaurant overlooking the harbour. We spend Bastille Day evening at Argeles sur Mer and it ended with a wonderful firework display. Le Boulou was a handy local centre for supplies and just a few minutes drive away. We had stayed in another property managed by the same team last year, so knew we could rely on their expert support and customer service if we needed it. We strongly recommend this property for those who do not want to be in the hustle and bustle of the coastal towns yet still be near the wonderful attractions within the Pyrennes-Orientales. We are already discussing dates for a stay in this property again in 2016.

We wanted to treat our family to a relaxing week in the South of France, to celebrate my,(Grandad's) 60th birthday. In total seven of us, including our Grandson age 3, had a wonderful week at this property. It surpassed our expectations from the photographs, not least in it's grandeur / space. We fully expected our kids to want to spread their wings and travel about the province but they didn't. We were all so settled in the villa, nobody really saw the need to travel much out. Our Grandson spent almost six to eight hours each day in the pool, with of course his entourage taking it in turns to play. Grandad did almost five hours a day with him! ( I knew I was carrying some weight but climbing out of the pool after hours of weightlessness, crikey!)
The villa was a delight and Bob and his wife Helene charming, assuring us that if required they were around and there for us. It wasn't needed but still we knew they were only a phone call away.
If you want a relaxing break with your family, or perhaps with close friends, in a villa quite literally fit for a king, in a setting that is quiet and picturesque, well this will defintitely fit the bill!
A great week in a beautiful setting, what could be better!
