Stunning 200 Year Old Farmhouse with Pool and Separate Barn Conversion
A beautiful lovingly restored 200 year old house with separate barn annex and private gated pool with stunning views over the Dordogne valley. Mod cons throughout to a high standard. A true gem of a property with lovely peaceful surroundings for relaxing but within close distance of the local delights and attractions.
The Main House
This beautiful historic building has been recently renovated to a high specification and now offers holidaymakers a property with modern plumbing, electrics and mod cons throughout. You will note attention to detail with the heavy fitted doors and other bespoke detailing. Exposed walls are a common feature throughout as are the terracotta tiled floors. All bathrooms are fitted to a high specification.
Accommodation comprises:
- A well equipped spacious kitchen with 6 burner range cooker with comfortable breakfast area
- A light filled sitting room with two sofas with doors opening onto terrace with gate through to pool area. Stunning views over the valley.
- Three double ensuite bedrooms
- One twin ensuite bedroom downstairs
Outside
Relaxing fenced pool and covered terrace with outside table and BBQ. Well maintained garden.
Please note that there is an infinity edge to the pool to make the most of the wonderful views. However, children must be supervised here, and on the pool terrace - no climbing on the edges please, for safety.
Table tennis table and football nets
A welcome pack is included in the rental. The managers are on-hand locally ready to assist with enquiries and linguistic help.
The Barn Annex
Beautifully and recently restored barn with original cow byres as a main feature in the high ceiling living space.

With a lovely private terrace outside, the Barn is close enough to the main house for shared holiday time and far enough away for privacy!
Table tennis table and football nets
The property is situated at the edge of a small village with a church. The village is on the crest of a wooded ridge with beautiful views to either side; one of the Dordogne Valley and one of the Garonne flood plain.
The village is quiet and peaceful with little traffic but within easy access of local amenities. The closest village with a shop and restaurant is Loubes Bernac, which is approximately 2km away from Montaillac.
Closest towns are Sainte-Foy-La-Grande, which has a beautiful and lively market around the medieval square on a Saturday morning and some great restaurants and wine tasting. Sainte-Foy also has the Dordogne river running through it which is great for canoeing, fishing and gabare trips. There is also a large supermarket and assorted shops. Sainte-Foy is approximately 20 minutes by car.
Duras is 15 minutes by car and has a lovely market on a Monday morning, and night markets on a Thursday in high summer. Duras also has an interesting and picturesque chateau with a ‘whispering room’ which is well worth the trip for adults and children alike. Local wine tasting is also readily available in Duras.
The historic market town of Bergerac is 35 minutes by car. Go-karting and bowling is available in Bergerac as well as a cinema. There are lovely boutique shops in the old town as well as a variety of good restaurants.
The pretty bastide town of Eymet is 15 minutes by car. Eymet has a wonderful night market during the summer months which is a delightful cultural experience. There is a traditional market every Thursday morning.
Chateau Monbazillac is approximately 15 minutes by car and has a lovely tour and wine tasting of the famous sweet white wine.
Chateau de Vigiers is approximately 5 minutes by car and has great restaurants (one is Michelin starred), spas, and an internationally renowned golf course and fishing.
Issigeac is a wonderful medieval market town which is a delight to wander through and have coffee or lunch in one of the many cafés. It's very popular on Sunday mornings when it hosts an award winning market.
The buddist retreat of Plum Village is approximately 5 minutes away by car. There is a small lake and leisure centre at Pomport, which is approximately 15 minutes by car. A little further afield is the Tour de Montaigne and world heritage Saint-Emillion.

By Air
Bergerac airport is 20 minutes away and is serviced by Ryanair (Stansted) and Flybe (NB there is no flightpath over the property). Car hire is available at the airport.
Bordeaux airport is 1.5 hours and is serviced by Easyjet and British Airways from London Heathrow and Gatwick. Car hire is available at the aiport.
By Train
Eurostar from St Pancreas London via Paris or Lille connects to Sainte-Foy-La-Grande and takes approximately 8 hours.

- The Barn and House can be rented together or separately - although in the peak period we of course only rent them together, or the house alone but not just the barn.
- Both daily and weekly maid services can be added at extra cost

- Please note the pool has an infinity edge to capture those lovely views - with approx 2m drop to a grass area. The pool terrace has a low wall also with a drop. For safety please - families with young children must ensure close supervision and not allow climbing on the walls.
