Set in the heart of France this rural retreat is a great escape from Covid-19 which was just what we all needed after months of lockdown. The farmhouse is perfectly situated for visiting the many nearby Bastide towns - Eymet being a firm favourite. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped. We spent many happy hours around the pool which had great views of the vineyards and beyond. The owners Chris and Kay were there during our stay but unobtrusive and ready to help when needed. If you seek peace and tranquillity from the madding crowd then this place is for you.Guest rating:
Just what we wanted. Spacious house, fully equipped in a peaceful location overlooking vineyards. Pool was great to relax and cool down in. Situated in wonderful rolling countryside and within easy reach of lovely towns / villages, there is certainly lots to do if you want. We did a surprising amount for a relaxing stay -Canoeing on the Dordogne, e-scooter tour through vineyards, wine tasting, day market, evening market, outdoor communal Sunday lunch to name a few. And if you like cycling, the roads are quiet, varied and very scenic. Kay and Chris were great hosts. Full of advice and help if needed, but very unobtrusive - we loved the fresh tomatoes Chris gave us from his garden that appeared overnight on the outside table. Highly recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Guest rating:
We had the most relaxing break in the most delightful surroundings - all thanks to our lovely hosts, Chris and Kay. Everything was as we hoped for, with the property exuding all the french country charm that one could possibly want, both inside and out. The pool was at a perfect temperature; there was acres of space for the children to run around and play cricket or football (huge thanks to Chris for 'knocking up' a goal and some cricket stumps!); and there was plenty of space inside for all of us, should the weather have been against us. There's plenty to do within easy striking distance, and the pretty village of Loubes-Bernac at the top of the hill (2 mins drive) has a small shop if you need anything urgently (fresh bread and pastries in the mornings!). It must be said that if anyone has any reservations surrounding the owners being 'on-site', then please don't - their part of the building is well tucked away. They were both very friendly and attentive, without being intrusive at all. We all very much hope to stay at Le Petite Bois again, and look forward to it. Thank you so much! Just returned from a thoroughly enjoyable holiday at Le Petite Bois. The house is delightful, lots of traditional charm but with the mod cons needed for a comfortable stay. The pool is fantastic, a nice temperature and sizeable and deep enough to properly swim, with views out to the rolling vineyards. The rural surroundings are very picturesque and peaceful and there are many market towns in easy reach to stock up on supplies. The nearest village is a pleasant walk away (less than a mile) with a useful shop and fab restaurant - not to be missed! Kay gave us a comprehensive list of the local markets and we especially enjoyed the lunchtime market in Soumensac where you select what you want from each stall and then take your plate and sit under the trees to eat at the tables and chairs provided. We so enjoyed the markets and being by the pool that we did little sightseeing apart from visiting the Chateau at Duras which was well worth the visit. There was lots of helpful literature at the property had we wished to do more. When I asked advice about getting a taxi for two of us who were remaining in France, Chris very kindly offered to take them. Hosts extraordinaire! Thank you both.Guest rating:
We spent 3 weeks at Le Petit Bois in August 2018.The homely, comfortable accomodation, the picturesque surroundings, the quaint tranquil gardens, the fabulous pool, and the most attentive, friendly hosts made for a perfect holiday! On arrival we were met with a wonderful, warm welcome by Chris and Kay. The house itself was spotlessly clean, excellently equipped, and was full of every aspect of rustic charm that I'd hoped for! There was also a mulititude of books, games and sporting equipment to keep the family happy. If that wasn't enough, we were spoiled with a HUGE bounty of delicious food and drink - fresh bread, butter, cheese, jam, milk, juice, red wine, white wine, beers and much more. We spent many lazy days sunbathing and swimming in the most gorgeous of pools (with a breathtaking view!), and venturing out to many of the quaint local towns and villages to enjoy much spectacular French food and drink. Issigeac, Eymet, La Reole, Duras, Bergerac, are all deserving of a visit and nearby (We also ventured a further afield to Bordeaux and Arcachon). My husband very much enjoyed running and cycling around such beautiful surroundings. I heartily recommend Le Petit Bois.I can't wait to return! Thank you so much, Kay and Chris!Guest rating:
We had the pleasure of holidaying at your lovely house in the Dordogne region of France in August 2017.
We drove down via Le Havre and our daughter son-in-law and their children flew to Bordeaux and drove to your house from the airport to join us.
We absolutely love both the house and the extensive grounds and the wonderful beauty and serenity of the situation not to mention the view over vineyards beyond the garden.
The house has a great French country house feel to it but enjoys all the facilities one could ask for for a good family holiday.
The swimming pool is great with sunbathing terrace from which you can enjoy the view over the adjoining countryside without any other properties nearby to spoil the peace.
We had a lovely holiday and will return.
Thank you Chris and Kay.

Deep in the southwest of La France Profonde, this is a home which spreads its arms to welcome you. Comfortable, equipped to a comprehensive standard, an enticing good-sized pool, in the middle of vineyard-country, with convenient Autoroute, air and rail connections – I didn’t want to leave, and I haven’t even mentioned the excellent, inexpensive restaurants within 20 minutes drive. After two weeks here, I began to understand the expression ‘ laid back ‘. The exemplary care which Kay and Chris take to ensure your holiday happiness is highly commended.

We highly recommend this delightful property at St Nazaire for a holiday in a special area of France. This is our second year in a row of staying at the property. The bedrooms are comfortable and the living area is spacious and extremely well equipped. The swimming pool is a special feature and there are plenty of outdoor places to relax and enjoy the sunshine or shade. It is in the midst of a very prestigious wine growing area and there are many places nearby to enjoy the local French cuisine.
We have visited this area over many years and never tire of it.Guest rating:

Additional price notes
We have had feedback that a Friday or Thursday changeover is helpful as the ferries and flights are cheaper and the main market town of St Foy has its market on a Saturday. Please contact us to talk if you would find it helpful to begin and end your stay on a day other than a Saturday which we will endeavour to accommodate if possible.
If you require a meal or shopping to be done and delivered for your arrival please let us know and we can discuss your requirements and costs.
