Wonderfully located between the Dordogne market towns of Eymet and Issigeac, close to the Dropt river, we are delighted to be able to offer this pretty guesthouse with exclusive use of its estate’s facilities, such as the swimming pool, gardens and gorgeous grounds.
Over 400 years old, this 2-bedroom historic cottage lies alongside the much-loved Château Gastebois, just by its 10m long heated swimming pool. The guesthouse is only rented out when the main château is unoccupied, meaning that guests have the estate to themselves other than the discreet on-site gardien.
Everything about this guesthouse is both charming and comfortable. Downstairs there’s a characterful open-plan living-dining room with French windows opening up to a lovely al-fresco dining terrace as well as the superbly equipped country kitchen. Follow the wooden steps upstairs and the master bedroom is both classic and spacious with its en suite bathroom whilst at the very top a delightful twin has beautifully high ceilings and the prettiest of fabrics. Guests have come to expect the very best here from the lovely welcome hamper with local wine on arrival to Egyptian cotton bed linen and Satellite TV with Freeview channels.
The heated swimming pool, private tennis court, children’s play area and games room are further amenities that are sure to impress guests of every age. The zen garden with its lavender and shady trees is a picture-perfect spot for a moment of tranquility.
Discover walking paths through the vast estate or explore further afield with all sorts of activities such as horse-riding, fishing, canoeing and boat trips along the Dordogne river. Visit historic châteaux and vineyards, idyllic medieval villages and handsome market towns including beautiful Bergerac within just half an hour.
You could even head as far as the wineries of Saint-Émilion and Bordeaux or drive south to the enchanting Lot valley and historic town of Agen. This is a glorious part of southern France.

The nearest town is Eymet (11km), a picturesque bastide town on the banks of the Dropt River. Here you will find restaurants, cafes and pretty shops as well as a lively weekly market on a Thursday morning. The nearest supermarket is also just outside Eymet.
Issigeac (14km) is also a delightful place to visit with its warren of medieval lanes and famous Sunday morning market, known to be one of the best in the area. It is such a pretty place which has been beautifully restored. If staying in July and August look out for the weekly night market, just as atmospheric as the town comes alive by the church square with street-food and local wine vendors.
Other activities in the immediate area include horse-riding, canoeing along the Dordogne as well as boat tours, riverside beaches (some with supervised summer swimming) or fishing in the Dropt river. A hot-air balloon ride is another way to see the stunning scenery of the Dordogne or stay on the ground and discover the landscapes by walking, hiking or cycling through the gentle rolling hills.
This region is also well-known for its wine which has been produced around Bergerac for over 400 years. Visit vineyards and wineries for tours and tastings – a ‘route de vin’ map will help you plan out your itinerary and don’t forget that wine-tastings can also be arranged in your holiday home. For longer days out, head towards the enchanting Saint-Émilion (67km) or you could even spend the day in Bordeaux, under two hours by car (or take the train from Bergerac).
Other sightseeing opportunities include historic châteaux, glorious formal gardens and bastide towns. Visit the prehistoric caves of Lascaux with its brilliant centre or spend the day in two of the Dordogne’s ancient towns, Sarlat (80km) or Périgueux (70km) with their amazing cathedrals, excellent restaurants, markets, shops and historic sights.
