A modern stylish villa with superb views and private, secluded pool, Villa Tamaris is nestled in the midst of the gorgeous Corbières hills yet close to a village with many amenities.
The villa is equipped to a very high standard with a brand new contemporary kitchen and new furniture. There is trapped fibre broadband.
- The kitchen is equipped with: Electric hob and oven, fridge freezer, dishwasher, microwave, electric kettle, cafetiere, Nespresso machine, toaster and many other conveniences.
- The living area is comfortably appointed and is complete with TV (with English TV channels and for use with Firestick). Double French sliding doors open out onto a teak deck surrounding the private swimming pool, barbeque and outdoor seating area, which are south facing and sunny all day.
- The dining area is part of the overall open plan living space with a large dining table, 6 chairs and is fully equipped with crockery, glassware, utensils and a stunning view of the Cathar castle which is lit up at night.
Bathrooms
- The upstairs bathroom services the master bedroom and is equipped with shower, WC and hand basin.
- The downstairs bathroom services the twin bedroom and is similarly equipped.
Bedrooms
- Upstairs in this lovely two bedroomed villa is the master bedroom. This pretty double bedroom has substantial (fitted) wardrobe space and wonderful views across the village and hills
- Downstairs there is a twin bedroom with views across the hills and an ensuite bathroom.
Outside
Villa Tamaris is equipped with its own 7.5mx3.5m private pool, from where there are fantastic views over the village and the Corbières hills. A large patio surrounds the pool with a seating area and BBQ. the side garden has lavender, rosemary and oleander planted.
Villa Tamaris is five minutes walk away from the centre of the village of Durban Corbières near Narbonne and Perpignan and 30 mins drive from the glorious beaches of the Mediterranean. It is a short drive from the airports of Carcassonne, Béziers and Perpignan , a little further to Toulouse and Girona [Northern Spain]
The villa has a stunning panoramic view over the beautiful Corbières Hills that stretch from the Mediterranean to the Spanish border and are steeped in Cathar history. The garden and pool are private and not overlooked.
The area has long hot summers and mild winters with a wealth of castles, ancient monasteries, medieval cities and beautiful beaches.
Eating out is a gastronomique delight with restaurants varying from a three-star Michelin in Fontjoncouse to local restaurants proving exceptional cuisine at reasonable prices
Visitors can immerse themselves in the ancient history of the area. Medieval castles like Chateau Queribus and Chateau Peyrepertuse sit high on mountainous outcrops commanding the area around them. The beautiful walled city of Carcassonne is a must to visit as are the monasteries at Lagrasse and Fontfroide. This area is Cathar country and historians will find a wealth of history to savour and enjoy. Nearby Narbonne and Beziers have a wonderful array of shops and fresh food markets. Just 15-20 minutes away is the lovely town of Sigean with its highly rated African Reserve. the nearest beaches of Le Franqui and Leucate are only 30 minutes away by car with beaches which stretch for miles and safe swimming in the Mediterranean waters.
Windsurfing and other maritime pursuits are also available.
There are lovely seafood restaurants along the promenades. Horse riding, golf, tennis and sailing are all within easy reach and the local hills are criss-crossed with delightful paths for hill walking. The Villa is an ideal base for skiing and winter sports for those who wish to travel to the Pyrenees skiing resorts and the famous principality of Andorra.
Wine in the Languedoc is fast becoming an important wine region and a tour round the region and the locality offer to the Chateau and Caves/cooperatives offer exceptional quality and affordable prices.
The villa is a new venture for us and we have replaced much of the furniture and installed a brand new kitchen.

We have had a wonderful week at Villa Tamaris. The owners have thought of everything which made it a very enjoyable stay. The pool is a brilliant bonus and the views are amazing. An excellent base to have days out from or alternatively just have a wander around the local area and relax by the pool. Great to be in a beautiful area, very peaceful but walking distance to 2 restaurants, boulangerie, wine tasting, hiking and a supermarket. Pure relaxation

Stunning house and area

Beautiful house in a perfect setting set high above the village . Excellent facilities and a really welcoming patio and pool . Many interesting places to visit though most are a 35 to 45 minute drive away . Be sure to visit Fontfroide Abbey , absolutely stunning . The village of Lagrasse is very pretty but don’t go on a Monday , it closes down. The Halles at Narbonne are also fascinating and a must . One final tip , the village supermarket opens very unusual hours and can catch you out and they do not open Sundays however their Boulangerie is very good . Beautiful house with lovely pool and fantastic location
We had a wonderful week at Villa Tamaris. The house is well laid out and well furnished, the views and location are absolutely amazing. The pool and outdoor area are just perfect. The owners have been very good at communication and were very helpful with hints and tips for our stay and their local concierges made sure everything was explained and the house was spotless on our arrival. The local village is delightful and there are plenty of very decent local wineries to work your way round. The village is an easy walk down the hill and there are loads of local footpaths and walks through the hills and vineyards surrounding Durban.Guest rating:
Great location for a villa on a hillside overlooking a very traditional and scenic town. Very clean and modern accommodation with good facilities. Pool was a good size for all the family to enjoy. Wow! This Villa was absolutely fantastic. Very well maintained, fully equipped with everything you’ll ever need whilst on holiday and really made to feel like a home from home. Very quiet area with the most outstanding views. Outside area is set up for total relaxation, and the pool is brill and a lot bigger than I thought it would have been. Nous avons passé de super vacances à la villa Tamaris. Location identique aux photos et très propre, lits faits à l'arrivée. Le village est à quelques minutes à pied. La maison est très bien localisée pour visiter la région où il y a des tas de choses à faire : châteaux, randonnées, parc animalier, gorges et grottes, ... La vue de la maison est magnifique! (We had a great holiday at Villa Tamaris. The house is exactly as in the photos and very clean, beds made when we arrived. The village is a few minutes away by foot. The house is very well located for visiting the region, where there are loads of things to do: castles, walks, wildlife park, gorges and caves ... La maison est exactement comme sur les photos, elle offre tout le confort possible. Située dans un lotissement très calme il est parfaitement conçu pour être chez soi, sans aucun vis-à-vis, cette maison est idéale pour 4 personnes. La piscine est de bonne dimension et la vue sur le château et le corbières est splendide. Toute la famille a aimé ces 2 semaines sous le soleil des Corbières. Nice two week stay in this pretty villa. Plenty to do in the area, and very hot weather every day. We cycled, went running, and visited Narbonne, Perpignan, Carcassonne, Bezier, and cadaques in Spain (among other places) , and various amazing Cathar castles (Peyrepertuse and Queribus), beaches and did some gorge swimming! And of course swam in the pool at the house! Really enjoyed our visit.

One of the best! We have rented holiday accommodation in France for many years, and this was one of the best we have experienced. The property was very clean, very comfortably furnished, and well equipped. It was located on a steep hillside with extensive views over the town and the surrounding countryside. Local villages are full of character, and the drives along the mountain roads reveal some beautiful scenery. Having a private swimming pool was a real bonus. Should we return to the area we would love to stay there again, and we would certainly recommend it to friends.
