In 2022 we are delighted to offer the Chateau de Reignac to the holiday rentals market for the first time.
The Chateau de Reignac is a restored 12th century Templar hostel, built on the site of prehistoric caves. The chateau is situated at the end of a no-through country road, overlooking and surrounded by one of the many green and verdant valley's in the Dordogne countryside. Deer, owls, and large birds of prey, can often be seen close to the property, and due to the countryside location, the night sky provides amazing star watching opportunities. The flight of the swallows over the property are not to be missed on balmy summer evenings.
The property has a large private and heated swimming pool, and covered terrasse for barbequing, eating, table tennis or just enjoying the sunset and spectacular views over the surrounding forested valley.
Inside the property is
- An impressive main hall which accommodates both sitting and dining functions,
- A modern well equipped kitchen,
- A laundry room,
- A small TV room
- Bedroom 1, a cosy room, overlooking the front courtyard, with double bed and a fullly equiped ensuite with free standing bath.
- Bedroom 2, (the Master Bedroom) overlooks the rear courtyard and covered terrasse, has a large kingsize bed and fully equipped ensuite including both a shower and free standing bath.
Bedroom 3 and 4 are accessed from the 'Romeo & Juliet' balcony...
- Bedroom 3, overlooks the rear courtard, with its replica of a window from the Chateau de Beynac (albeit smaller), has a double bed and fully equipped ensuite with shower.
- Bedroom 4, the Tower bedroom sits on two levels, with panoramic views over the surrounding terrain, twin beds sit aloft accessed by a spiral stair case, and has a fully equipped ensuite with shower.
The property reflects its age and history, with many quirky features. Situated on a steep rock formation, with many low surrounding walls ,we would advise that the property is not suitable for small children!
All bedding and bath towels are provided.
Smoking Policy : Strictly no-smoking within the property.
Pets : No pets allowed - we respectively present this policy to maintain a pet allergen free environment.
Please note that in respect to Children attending the Chateau we advise that a minimum age of 10 years and above applies.
We only have availability to accommodate changeovers on a Saturday therefore we kindly ask that all rental period requests should commence on a Saturday.
Chateau de Reignac is situated in a peaceful and very private location, at the end of a no-through road, surrounded by countryside. St Cyprien, a pretty medieval town, is a short drive away (approx 3kms). It has a good selection of restaurants, bakeries and a Carrefour supermarket with a pharmacy. There is an excellent local produce market every Sunday, sometimes including antiques and crafts.
Many of the beautiful sights that the Dordogne has to offer are within easy reach of the property - Sarlat, Domme, Beynac and the Valley of the Five Chateaux, are all within a 20kms radius. The riverside town of Le Bugue is approximately 10kms away, and offers kayaking, horse riding and has a very popular adventure park. The whole area is a cyclists paradise, with amazing views and beautiful villages for rest or refreshments.
Golf, vineyards with wine tasting, and hot air ballooning are all accessible in the wider area.
The Chateau is ideally located to explore all of the regions major tourist attractions including:
- Sarlat (The medieval capital of the Perigord Noir)
- Beynac, a beautiful village, sits on the banks of the River Dordogne, to the south-west of Sarlat, its imposing medieval Chateau perched on high.
- Chateau de Castlenaud, a traditional enemy to Beynac sits on the opposite bank of the river
- La Rocque Gageac, situated at the foot of a towering limestone cliff along the banks of the Dordogne, offering visitors a labyrinth of cobbled streets, a troglodyte fort and a Romanesque church that dominates the valley.
- Chateau de Milandes, Built in 1489, this charming castle with its magnificent Gothic features is a great example of Renaissance architecture. Known worldwide thanks to Josephine Baker
- Domme, extraordinary panoramic views of the Dordogne Valley can be had in this extremely well preserved bastide medieval town. Steeped in history, stunning views, great shops, excellent bars and restaurants plus a fascinating history.
- Limeuil, A beautiful village, overlooking the picturesque confluence of the Dordogne and Vezere rivers. Many take to swimming here with its shallow waters or start/terminate their canoe excursions.
