Domaine Lavie is situated 2 km from the delightful and picturesque spa town of Salies de Béarn in South West France. The Béarn is a wonderful unspoilt area with beautiful countryside, rich in history, with well-preserved chateaux, fantastic food and wine with the Pyrenees and Spain on one side and the Atlantic beaches on the other.
For culture, sophistication and glamour visit the capital Pau or the coastal towns of Biarritz, Bayonne and St. Jean de Luz with their fabulous Atlantic beaches for surfing and water sports. During the spring, summer and autumn 'Fetes' are held in almost all the towns and villages, lasting from one to three days they are an experience not to be missed! Colourful markets offering the best of local produce take place weekly. The Pyrenees for walking, bird watching and skiing in winter are 1 hour away.
There are wonderful rivers for fishing, canoeing and kayaking close by. Spain and Lourdes can be reached in approximately 1 hour. Ryanair flights daily to Biarritz.
Accommodation
Domaine Lavie is a lovely old Manoir set in 7 acres of garden, orchard and woodland. Our aim is to provide a relaxing comfortable holiday all year around in accommodation furnished and equipped to a high standard. Throughout the gardens there are seats on which to sit and read or just admire the view.
There is a 14 x 8 metre fenced swimming pool. The pool area faces south with views over the hills and fields towards the Pyrenees, it has a large terrace with plenty of sun beds and parasols.
Orchard cottage provides the accommodation detailed below:

The kitchen is equipped with fitted units, gas hob, electric oven, dishwasher, fridge with freezer compartment, washing machine and microwave.
The medieval town of Salies de Béarn, situated on the river Saleys, with its beautiful architecture, famous Thermal Spa, vibrant weekly market, boutique shops and excellent restaurants is the perfect place to stroll around and take in some café culture.
Further afield, the towns of Biarritz, Bayonne, St Jean de Luz, St Jean Pied de Port, Pau and San Sebastian are all within an hour. Lourdes and Bilbao (Guggenheim museum) are both 2 hours away.
The beautiful surfing beaches of the Atlantic coast are within easy reach, with the closest being 45 minutes away at Biarritz, Hossegor and Capbreton. The Pyrenées mountains can be reached in just over an hour for walking, cycling and skiing or for just admiring the amazing scenery.

How to get to Orchard Cottage
- By air: for direct flights our nearest airports are Biarritz (45 minutes), Tarbes/Lourdes (60 minutes), Bordeaux, Toulouse or Bilbao (Spain) (all 2h15). For connections via Paris there is also the option of Pau Pyrénées airport (45 minutes)
- By sea: our closest ferry ports are Bilbao (2h30) or Santander (3h15) in northern Spain.
- By car: Many guests adrive from the Channel Tunnel or ferry ports further afield, either with or without an overnight stop.
- By train: our closest railway station is Orthez (20 minutes), which can be reached by TGV from Paris in as little as 4 hours. There is car hire available within walking distance of the station.
Domaine Lavie is situated approximately 2.5km from the centre of Salies de Béarn and, although it is possible to walk to the shops and restaurants, a car is really essential in order to make the most of your visit to this beautiful corner of France

Additional price notes

We are open all year round. Short breaks, for a minimum of 3 nights, are available between September and June when arrival/departure days can be flexible. During July and August we only accept weekly bookings with arrival/departure on a Saturday.
- All cottages are available for long winter lets, for a maximum of 90 days, between October and April.
- Prices include all electricity and gas, except during the period from 1 October to 30 April where there will be a charge for additional heating.
- All our cottages are non-smoking.
- We are required to collect Taxe de Séjour at the rate of 1,50 euros per adult per night on behalf of the local commune. We will ask for this from guests during their stay.
