Beautiful Normandy Stone Cottage, Gîte and Bed & Breakfast
La Tringale is an 1820’s farmhouse set in 2.5 acres and is situated in the beautiful Normandy countryside, offering excellent accommodation and facilities (a 3 bedroom Stone Cottage, a 2 bedroom Gite and 3 rooms in the B&B), peace and tranquility and with easy access to major ferry ports, airports and key attractions of this truly delightful and historic region, and is child friendly.
Each accommodation has its own patio with full-furniture and, in addition, the large enclosed rear garden has 2 barbecues and picnic benches and a children’s play area with swings, slide, climbing-rope and tyre-swings. The extensive grassed area can be used for ball games (football net and balls; badminton net and basket-ball equipment provided) or just to relax and enjoy the sunshine and perhaps a drop of the grape-nectare?.
The large landscaped pond is home to fish and our own resident ducks. There is also a family of moorhens and is fenced to ensure safety for all. A large secure car park ensures safety for all guest's vehicles. There is a laundry room, for guests’ use, which houses a washing-machine, ironing-board and iron and ample external drying area. A variety of DVD’s are available on loan from Andy and Jill, your English hosts, as are a selection of push bikes.
There is a bar for use by the guests situated above the motorcycle parking area in the large barn. just the place to relax and unwind after a busy day. There is table football and a dart board plus a TV with all of the usual UK TV channels.

Exposed oak beams, stained-glass window and a cider-barrel cupboard are all features of Euphony gîte which sleeps 5-7 people, has a spacious open-plan ground floor lounge/dining area, a fully fitted kitchen and a shower-room with washbasin and WC. There are two bedrooms, and a gallery landing for relaxing on with easy chairs and coffee table, on the first floor. To the front of the accommodation there is a patio area with furniture.
Ground floor
- Kitchen: Fully fitted with cooker, fridge, microwave oven and coffee maker, together with all the necessary crockery & cutlery for up to 7 people. A welcome pack of tea, coffee, milk & sugar is provided.
- Lounge: Spacious area with British satelite TV, video, DVD, CD/Hi-Fi unit. There is a sofa-bed in the lounge which can sleep a further 2 people if required; additional payment required for this.
- Dining Area: Dining table and 6 chairs (there are extra chairs in the two bedrooms, if required).
- Shower-room: Walk-in shower area, wash-basin and WC.
Upper floor
- Two bedrooms: One with a double bed and cot, and one with 3 single beds (this room is large enough to take a further single bed if required).
- Landing area: Sitting area with coffee table and 2 easy chairs for parents to escape the kids, perhaps with a book/coffee; or vice-versa!
Euphony Gite ( barn conversion) is a well-insulated, decorated and fitted homely accommodation, with Oak beams throughout. A cider-barrel cuboard houses the water-heater and the sun breaks through the small stained-glass window shedding coloured lights through the lounge/diner. Within the 2.5 acres of land our facilites include children's play area, barbecues and picnic tables, large lawned area for ball-games and recreation (football net and balls, badminton net with rackets provided) large landscaped pond with fish and frogs and a few bikes for loan to guests.
Ample parking for guest's cars, set aside from the playing area for safety.
La Tringale is central to all major ports and attractions, with easy access to the famous D-Day Landing beaches (20 mins drive) and to/from the major ferry ports of Cherbourg and Caen (50 minutes); Carpiquet (Caen) airport (40 minutes) and Cherbourg airport (50 mins). We are situated near the village of Cerisy la Foret, midway between the major towns of Bayeux and St Lo.
Bayeux, a most beautiful, picturesque medieval town, was one of the first liberated from enemy occupation on 7th June 1944 and is the home of the famous 11th century Tapestry depicting William the Conqueror’s invasion of England and the Battle of Hastings in 1066; it is only 25 minutes drive. Visit the beautiful Cathedral whilst there and sample good French cuisine in one of the many restaurants or experience good 'retail therapy' (Ladies!).
St.Lo, situated approximately 18k south-west of La Tringale has good shopping, leisure facilities (new aqua-park and golf-driving range), restaurants and an extensive Saturday morning market. For Horse lovers it is also the most important of the 23 national studs in France – stables and courtyards open to visitors June – September.
St Clair sur Elle is the local village for general shopping and offers bar/restaurant (pizza night on Tuesdays!), butcher, supermarket, baker, garage, post office, doctor’s surgery, chemist, bank, 2 hairdressers and a small market on Tuesdays.
Le Mont St. Michel is around 1 hour 20 minutes drive.

The beautiful sandy and spacious Normandy beaches, WWII museums and military cemeteries / memorials are 20-40 minutes, depending on which beach, and within a 30 minutes drive is the Medieval town of Bayeux, children’s adventure parks, new aqua centre, zoos, a maze, woodland walks and picnics, fishing lakes and rivers, golf courses and many more activities.
This is an ideal centre for artists, walkers, cyclists, motor-cyclists and property hunters.

How to get to Euphony Gîte
La Tringale is situated on the D8 between the village of Ste Marguerite d'Elle and Cerisy la Foret, midway between Bayeux and St Lo. The village of Lison, 7k from here, has the mainline train direct to Paris (2.5 hours).

Additional price notes
- Arrivals are from 16.00 and departures by 10.00, but there may be flexibility providing you let us know in advance.
- Weekend or mid-week bookings available during off-peak-season months (Sept-June) as are short-term lets.
- 50% non-refundable deposit is payable with booking – the balance being payable 6 weeks prior to arrival or cash (euros) on arrival.
- An electric meter is installed in both self-catering accommodations. A reading will be made on arrival and again before departure and a bill for 50% of this (Sept - June only), including tax, is payable prior to departure.
- It would be advisable to take out comprehensive travel insurance which includes cancellation cover.
- Cot is available; please request at time of booking.
- Payment accepted in Euros or £'s Sterling cheques/cash/E-transfer or $US electronic transfer.
- We operate a non-smoking policy in all accommodations.
- 'Additonal Persons' charge is payable for more than 5 persons (up to 7 max): €30 per week per person.
- Well-behaved pets welcome; no charge.
- Larger groups welcome, up to 24 persons, including bikers, hikers etc.
- There is a welcome pack (tea, coffee, milk and sugar) awaiting your arrival!
