Renovated Barn with Pool Set in Countryside
La Grange nestles in the heart of the Tarn countryside and is situated at the end of a leafy country track in the hamlet of St Martial. The property is surrounded by fields of sunflowers and vineyards set in beautiful valleys with the forests of Grésigne and Sivens close by.
La Grange is adjacent to the owners' house and is completely independent. It overlooks its own private swimming pool with roman steps and large sun terrace from which there are stunning views across the valley.
There are lovely walks through the owners' woodland where you may spy a red deer or perhaps hear a nightingale or golden oriole and in the evening barn owls are sometimes seen silhouetted in the moonlight as they cross the meadow.
Outside:
Generous covered terrace with terracotta tiles. Wooden table and chairs. Wonderful views from here of the pool area and valley beyond. There is also a barbecue.
There is a 10m x 5m swimming pool with roman steps. The pool is fully maintained. In accordance with new French law the pool is fitted with an AFNOR approved alarm.
The garden is to the side and rear of La Grange. Grassed area with badminton net. Full range of garden and poolside furniture.

Completely renovated in 2003, La Grange offers all requirements for modern day living whilst retaining original features.

La Grange is about 50 minutes from Toulouse Airport and approximately 90 minutes from those at Rodez and Carcassonne. The property is centrally based for visits to the Pyrénées and the Mediterranean and Atlantic coasts.
St Antonin Noble Val and the Aveyron Gorges offer dramatic scenery and it is well worth hiring a canoe or kayak to take in the views at a leisurely pace. Albi (30 minutes drive) is a beautiful rose-brick and half timbered city, famed for its magnificent cathedral, plus the Toulouse Lautrec Museum which contains the largest single collection of his work. There is a wonderful network of pedestrianised streets for sightseers and souvenir hunters and also a wide selection of good restaurants.
Gaillac, (approx 15 minutes drive), where all provisions are catered for, is a bustling market town with 2 large supermarkets and a weekly Friday market in the central square. The Gaillac area is well known for its wine production and there are a multitude of vineyards where visitors are welcome to 'try and buy'.
The bastide hilltop village of Castelnau de Montmiral dating from the thirteenth century is only 5 minutes by car. Here there are two boulangeries, a pharmacie, 2 bar/restaurants, a post office, tourist office and an English speaking doctor. There is also a market in the square every Tuesday morning. Musical concerts, both classical and jazz are organised in Castelnau de Montmiral for the summer months.
Other nearby bastide villages well worth visiting are Puycelsi, Bruniquel, whilst Cordes sur Ciel is a sight to behold. Precariously perched on a hill, this village has been painstakingly restored by local artisans and consists of steep cobbled streets and stone archways leading to the top from where there are breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. Here, one can find many interesting shops selling examples of local work.
At the Base de Loisirs, (situated between La Grange and Castelnau de Montmiral), there are extensive leisure lakes for fishing, boating and swimming. Other activities include tennis, crazy golf and there is also a football pitch. Refreshments are provided at the site café or there is a picnic area for visitors' use.
There is an excellent equestrian centre at St Beauzile as well as 2 golf courses at Albi. For those who enjoy walking, the GR46 route passes through the beautiful Grésigne Forest. Cap' Découverte leisure area at Carmaux (an hour's drive away) offers a wide range of activities including artificial ski slopes, go-karting, roller blading and roller skating parks, boating lakes etc.

You expect all the Gites you look for to be advertised as being perfect, this one really is; and more besides. A very comfortable and well equipped home from home overlooking a truly beautiful landscape of forestry and farmland. La Grange is set in a tranquil rural setting with lots to see and do in the nearby areas. Whatever plans you make before staying here don't be surprised if you leave a lot undone, this gite is so lovely you don't want to leave. We returned to La Grange this year and were welcomed back by Clive and Barbara. The house is so comfortable, and it is lovely to have plenty of space to roam around. We did plenty of walking, tennis and cycling - what an amazing area. We hope to return again soon!

We had a fantastic time. Three generations from a 9 month old upwards. Accommodation of a very high standard all located in a perfect setting for a peaceful and relaxing time. As a committed birdwatcher and nature lover I was not disappointed with the many species around. If you can drag yourself away to explore there are some enchanting places to visit. Barbara and Clive couldn't have been more helpful. I am sure we will return.

We had previously stayed at another property in the area, so we knew that Puycelci and the Aveyron valley are lovely. However, Clive and Barbara's hospitality really exceeded our expectations. The house is fantastic - cosy, but with plenty of room for everyone. The pool is great, with lovely views over the Forest of Gresigne. Woodland walks on the doorstep and lots provided in the way of games and equipment. What more could you ask?

Guests are requested not to arrive before 4pm on day of arrival and to leave by 10 am on day of departure.

A 25% non-returnable deposit is required to secure the booking, the balance is payable 8 weeks before the commencement date of your booking together with a returnable deposit of £200 to cover breakages/damage.
