Villa with Heated Pool, Secluded Garden of 1 Acre, 5 Minute Walk from Village
Lou Nouguié is situated only a 5 minute walk from the picturesque village of Villecroze with its medieval arcaded streets, village square, shops and restaurants. Despite its proximity to the village, it is in a beautiful and peaceful position opposite the tiny Chapelle Sainte Anne, where there is a mass just once a year. There is a small park area around the Chapelle. The house, which is the owners’ second home was built in 1999. It faces south to the rear and has covered terraces and a large heated pool (12 x 6 metre, May - 1st October) with electric security cover. The garden is about one acre and is fully enclosed offering a high level of privacy and has electronically operated gates. The accommodation is light and airy, arranged on two floors, which are tiled throughout. There are mosquito screens on all the main windows as well as wooden shutters or security bars. There are a number of cafes/restaurants in Villecroze as well as a grocer and baker, which can be reached on foot from the house in a few minutes. Children over 8 years only please. Broadband Wi-Fi. The position of the house means that you can relax in a quiet location yet take lunch or dinner in the village just 5 minutes’ walk away, or sit in the square and watch pétanque, without having to worry about driving.

Salernes is the nearest town about 5 minutes’ drive away, but within 15 minutes’ drive are Tourtour, Aups, Flayosc and Lorgues. All around Villecroze is lovely countryside suitable for walking - either a quiet stroll or a serious expedition. Vineyards: Then there are the vineyards. The 2 big ones are St Jean de Villecroze and Chateau Thuerry, the latter's new cave looking like a James Bond set as you approach it up the valley. The Valcolombe vineyard is definitely worth a visit too, smaller but very nice distinct wines and there is also Majouliere, a more recent addition and Rabelles. Arts & Sport: The renowned Villecroze Music Academy offers free concerts from April to October. Poterie du Soleil sells lovely pottery and paintings by local artists. Tucked away in the old village is a jewellery workshop where you can see the jewellery made as well as purchase it. You can book courts at the Villecroze Tennis club which is just behind the square near the park.
The typically Provençal village of Villecroze is a desirable location in which to live. There is an old town which is meticulously restored, with many original arched walls still remaining. One of the main attractions in Villecroze is its lovely park set against a tufa cliff, in which a cave house was dug into the rock in the 16th century. There is also a waterfall. The park is open daily with the grotto open from April to September.
In the village there is a good selection of everyday shops including a baker, grocer, post office, antique shop as well as a tourist office, hairdresser and an ATM. A shady village square used for playing pétanque, hosts a market on a Thursday morning offering fruit, vegetables, cheeses and other produce. There are hypermarkets at Draguignan and Trans-en-Provence as well as supermarkets and other shopping facilities in the nearby towns of Aups, Salernes and Lorgues.
There are fivecafes/restaurants in Villecroze, all of which can be reached on foot from the house in a few minutes, and many of which are open all year.
There are two tennis courts in Villecroze which can be booked. The whole area is ideal for walking and cycling.
There are various cultural activities in Villecroze throughout the year including painting and sculpture exhibitions and free classical musical concerts ( April to October) given by the famous Acadamie International de Musique de Villecroze, which is, in fact, situated just up the road from the house.

We had been looking forward to staying at Lou Nouguie for over a year and it was well worth the wait! The house is beautiful, spacious, airy and and has so many lovely places to sit and enjoy the views across the grounds and countryside. The pool is a good size and helped us get back into swimming a few lengths now and then, although sometimes we just bobbed around in the water, watching the wind blow through the lovely pine trees behind the house - so restorative! We cooked nearly all our meals at the house, (the kitchen was such a joy to prepare food in) whilst enjoying a glass of local Rose of course! The table out on the veranda is perfect for sharing meals together, we had some great evenings there with our friends, enjoying good food and good times in a beautiful setting. In the evenings you can sit out on the veranda, listening to the crickets and watching the moon and stars make their way across the vast views of the night sky. Carol and Patrick were so friendly and helpful, Carol went to extra lengths to get us some vegan goods for our welcome pack. Villecroze is absolutely stunning. Lou Nouguie and Villecroze gave us the relaxing restorative week we needed, we were very sad to leave.Guest rating:
This is the third time we have stayed at Lou Nouguié and once more everything was perfect. It is in a lovely area with such a lot to see and do. Fortified by the excellent welcome pack for our first breakfast by the pool we enjoyed our stroll up into the village via the old alleyways and lazed under the Plane trees, drinking coffee and planning our stay. Among lots of places of interedt we visited St Croix de Verdon for the first time and discovered a pretty lakeside village with an excellent terrace restaurant. Again we visited Aups for the market, followed by lunch at Auberge de la Tour, but we gave ourselves plenty of time each day to swim in the large heated pool and to relax. The gentle breeze in the Haute Var adds to the pleasure, but the house is the star and the welcome superb.Guest rating:
Our family returned for the second year running to Lou Nouguie and like last year, all our expectations were fulfilled. As before, the house has great amenities and facilities and every attention to detail has been met. We split between cooking and preparing our own meals- which is easy in the superb kitchen- and eating out. We discovered several great restaurants that we hadn't previously visited, in and around the Villecroze vicinity- and some undiscovered Chateaus and Domains to stock up on wine. We will definitely be returning again in future years. The Hackney familyGuest rating:
Lou Nouguie is a lovely comfortable, mature property set just on the edge (easy walking distance) of Villecroze which, itself, is a very pretty and friendly place. The property is well maintained and in excellent condition; superbly equipped with everything you could possibly need. Good sized 12m x 6m pool. The owners, Carol and Patrick are a lovely, helpful couple who are able to provide lots of local information and any assistance you may need. Being a small village Villecroze is a bit limited shops wise but has an excellent boulangerie/patisserie and there are three good supermarkets in Salernes which is a 10 minutes drive away. We had a lovely restful holiday and would wholeheartedly recommend Lou Nouguie.Guest rating:
We enjoyed the most wonderful family holiday at this attractive property - a rare opportunity for the four of us to spend peaceful, relaxing time together in a beautiful setting. Carol and Patrick are the perfect owners, being delightful but unobtrusive. The villa suited us extremely well; it was clean, comfortable and very well-equipped. In addition, everything was well cared for and worked (this is not always so in rental properties!). The bedroom configuration allowed our adult son to enjoy the privacy of his own downstairs 'wing' where the two single rooms are situated. The added bonus of a fascinating and broad-ranging library kept us all very happy, as did the beautiful, heated swimming pool. Villecroze is well-positioned to enjoy many of the attractive villages around, as well as the Gorges du Verdon and the coast (both about an hour's drive away), but the villa was always calling us back! We also liked being able to walk in different directions, including into the village of course, with its bakery, restaurants and bars around the small square. We cannot wait to return!Guest rating:
An excellent choice for a family group looking for complete privacy and easy access to a quiet, authentic village in rural Provence. Our expectations were exceeded in every way. The villa is impeccable and equipped with everything needed - inside and out - for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday. Everything has been thought of. We arrived fairly late and quite hungry on a Saturday evening, to be met by a smiling Carol, the owner, and a wonderful array of local produce, which put us immediately at ease - so thoughtful. We were most impressed with the layout of the house, which provided more than enough space for everyone (five of us, including three young-adult children). Not that we spent much time indoors! Our holiday was blissful - reading, walking, enjoying the large, immaculate swimming pool, I could go on. Suffice it to say our most difficult choice was deciding amongst the several thoughtfully designed shady areas where to eat lunch or enjoy a glass or two of wine in the evening! The garden is bigger and better than we expected and the surrouding villages are charming should you feel the need to leave this oasis of tranquility. We didn't want to depart a week later, and hope to return. Highly recommended!Guest rating:
We were delighted to return to this wonderful villa and enjoy a great two weeks in a warm September. Everything was as perfect as before. We appreciated the generous welcome pack, very comfortable beds, a variety of places to relax outside and in and the nearness of a lovely village. We ventured further this year and enjoyed visits to Moissac-Bellevue, Bauduen on the Lac St Croix and more lively Lorgues as well as returning to Tourtour, Cotignac and Aups with its great market and lunch venues. It’s a beautiful area to explore. But it’s even better to return to Lou Nouguié and take a good swim in the pool. A fantastic place and very welcoming hosts. We are already looking forward to NEXT year.Guest rating:
Lou Nouguie was the perfect villa for our family of 4. The property was incredibly spacious and well equipped- lovely swimming pool, great kitchen and great dining facilities-inside and outside. Importantly, the little touches- cooking and dining utensils, linen, a lovely welcome pack- all made a big difference and were much better than other villas we have stayed in, in the Var region. Villecroze is a lovely village- traditional, authentic and with some very good restaurants within walking distance-and whilst we were their, there were events, markets and activities to make the stay more special. Lots of things to do nearby- from canoeing and other activities for the family and children, to the many great vineyards just a short distance away, where we could stock up on Provencal Rose. All in all, a lovely, memorable holiday. I'm sure we will return The Hackney familyGuest rating:
We had a brilliant two week holiday at Lou Nouguie. We were a mixed age group and the beautiful house and gardens suited all of us. The house has a very attractive layout and is extremely well equipped. The pool is really lovely and is surrounded by a variety of seating areas and sun loungers so you always have a choice of sun or shade and a choice of different aspects of the house and garden. We ate at home a number of evenings and really enjoyed using the kitchen and the outside eating area. Villecroze is a very attractive ancient village with lovely restaurants catering for a range of tastes and price ranges. The local area is amazing and well worth visiting. Tourtour, Chateauxdouble, Lac St Croix and the Verdon Gorge all spectacular. The owners are very friendly and helpful and provide a thoughtful and generous welcome pack and a personal welcome to the house all of which were much appreciated. We have stayed in many holiday rentals over the years but this one is definitely the best. We very much hope to return.Guest rating:
We were reluctant to leave this beautiful villa set in spacious private grounds. It is exactly as described and exceeded our expectations. It was great to be met by the owners and the welcome pack was perfect to keep us going until the following day. There are many places to visit either by car or by foot. We enjoyed a walk up to Tour-Tour and pleased we had taken sensible shoes. We visited the local bakery every day which provides a great range from rustic bread to fine patisseries. Most of all we enjoyed relaxing by the pool and there is a library full of books to entertain and educate. It is a real home from home experience with everything you could possibly need. We are already planning our next visit.

We had a wonderful 2 weeks staying in this fabulously clean and well maintained and equipped villa with our teenagers. The wifi connection is excellent. The owners were helpful but discreet. The beds were comfortable and we immediately began our holiday feeling very relaxed.
We ate in most evenings and the kitchen has everything you need to be able to do this.
Villlecroze is a quiet village to have as your base to explore the area. With a local bakery. There are wonderful local markets, restaurants and other local places to visit. The Lake and Gorge are definite places to visit. We arrived early at the Lake to hire a pedalo otherwise it gets very busy. The Gorge drive is stunning.
I can thoroughly recommend a stay at this villa.Guest rating:
Everything in this home was perfect, from the personal reception on arrival, the welcome pack, to the location and quality of furnishing and household equipment. The village is small with restaurants , bakery and bar and is close to other interesting villages, vinyards and less than 1 hour to the highlights and beaches of Cannes, St Tropez etc. Would suit virtually any type of holidaymaker
Guest rating:
This is an exceptional property set in beautiful grounds just a gentle stroll from an interesting village that's not touristy and with some great places to eat.The house is exactly as described with great attention to detail and with high quality furniture and fittings. We were delighted with the generous welcome pack, thoughtfully left ready for us to enjoy our breakfast, and more. The pool is excellent and very good for a proper swim.We loved the covered outside seating areas for the shade and for when the weather decided to turn wet. The Upper Var is unspoilt compared to other areas of Provence yet offers beautiful and interesting places to visit.
A five star holiday in all respects.Guest rating:
Each year I book a week away in a villa with a group of old friends. We have been doing this for many years and have stayed in some lovely places. Lou Nouguie really was perfect though and enabled us to have a fabulous holiday. The location of the villa on the outskirts of Ville-Crozes meant that we could enjoy fresh croissants and bread each day from the bakery and there are nice places to eat in the village if you do want to venture out in the evening.
The villa is so spacious and perfectly arranged that it is very hard to tear yourself away. Our lazy days by the beautiful pool segued effortlessly into fun evenings on the terrace, drinking delicious local wine and eating meals we rustled up in the well equipped kitchen. The booking and housekeeping service on arrival was very helpful and the whole experience was a pleasure. We all agreed we will be recommending the villa and the area to our families and friends. A really memorable and truly relaxing holiday.Guest rating:
This house has the 'wow' factor. Lovely property set in very pretty grounds. Comfortable and spacious rooms. Well equipped kitchen. The swimming pool off the terrace is a decent size...enough to swim lengths! Five minute walk into the village of Villecroze which has a good range of cafes and restaurants plus a small grocery store and brilliant bakery. Wonderful location gives easy access to the coast, countryside, villages. I would have no hesitation in recommending this holiday home.
Guest rating:
Built in traditional style, the house is beautiful, light and airy and is immaculately kept but very welcoming. It’s so well-equipped I could live here permanently – I discovered kitchen items I can no longer manage without! We loved having the Nespresso machine – the pleasure of good early-morning coffee on the terrace shouldn’t be underestimated.
Perfect for families with children, the pool can be easily viewed from the sitting room and kitchen and the grounds are very safe with electric gates and fenced all around the property. There are several areas to gather for drinks and dinner, one shaded by a canopy of vines.
There are plenty of pretty towns and villages to explore and lots to do at the stunning Gorge du Verdon but we had several days without moving the car…. and a few days barely leaving the house (with the exception of the daily trip to the bakery obviously!). Everyone wanted to stay at home and enjoy the house, pool, garden and the incredibly pleasing and well-stocked bookcase!
The owners were very helpful prior to our arrival and left a starter pack of groceries which was very welcome. The Sunday changeover worked brilliantly - I welcomed the extra day to prepare and the airports and car hire were much quieter.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this property to even my most picky friends and family!Guest rating:
A family of four with two pre-teen children. We had a wonderful week at Lou Nouguie; we felt safe and secure, the villa is wonderfully appointed and the outdoor space is magnificent. Villecroze has much to offer and the surrounding towns and villages are so beautiful. The property's owners couldn't do enough for us, ensuring that we had everything we needed and suggested places to visit which enabled us to have a special mix of restful family time with exploration thrown in.
The daily walk to the village for croissant and baguettes took just minutes and started the day off very well.
We have already booked to return in 2015!Guest rating:
