Secluded 200yr Old House, Heated Pool, Stunning Views, Aircon all bedrooms
This delightful old house is situated between Domme and Sarlat and is private and secluded but not isolated, with extensive grounds and a large heated pool.
The sparkling crystal waters of the river Dordogne offer excellent swimming and canoeing. Fine local wines and superb Perigordian cuisine are good value in the numerous restaurants. Whether your interests are sporting, cultural or gastronomic, the region will provide you with a memorable holiday. Alternatively you can relax quietly beside the pool in the sun with a glass of wine and enjoy the wonderful views down the valley.
In the Perigord Noir, within two miles of the Dordogne River and the Lot Department, is our 200-year-old traditional stone farmhouse, with five bedrooms and four bath/shower rooms. The house and grounds are private and secluded but not isolated, situated in a hamlet between picturesque Sarlat with its wealth of Renaissance architecture and the market town of Gourdon, each about 15 minutes' drive, and close to the famous medieval bastide town of Domme. The nearest village is Grolejac, a mile down the valley.
2020 is our 25th year of successful letting with over 200 parties. 17 groups have taken three holidays or more and 17% of our guests have returned.

We provide a house book giving more detailed information on all facilities provided, local services and everything there is to do in the region.
The Perigord region of Southwest France is an area of lush green countryside which is bathed in sunshine for much of the year. Winding roads through meadows and forests reveal panoramic views of handsome ancient chateaux and castles, picturesque farms and dovecotes, built from golden limestone. You may visit spectacular underground caves whose walls are stunningly painted with prehistoric animals.
A five minute drive to Grolejac brings you to shops, the other three restaurants and the Dordogne river where you can enjoy the river's sparkling waters to swim, canoe or fish. A newly tarmac-surfaced cycle path starts here and replaces a disused railway track for traffic-free routes through pretty wooded countryside for 10 miles in either direction.
The river's clear waters are fun for canoeing or swimming, and a 9-hole golf course open to the public is 15 minutes away. Sarlat, Gourdon, Domme and Le Roque-Gageac are lively and entertaining in the evenings, worth visiting for a very reasonably priced meal or just a stroll round with perhaps a drink at a pavement café.
Golf
- Vitrac: This is the nearest course only 5 miles away, a very pleasant nine-hole golf course about five miles away on the road between Montfort and Cenac. A half-set of clubs and a trolley are also available for hire.
- Souillac Country Club: 30 minutes by car.
- Siorac: 20 miles by car
- Lolivarie: 30 miles by car
- Rodez (Onet le Chateau): Over 2 hours drive but useful if you need to go to Rodez airport.

I just wanted to drop you a line to say what a wonderful time we had at Le Pech last week. The house completely took our breath away as we came down the driveway, it was everything we had hoped for and you must feel incredibly proud of it. I am very much missing my morning coffee overlooking the valley today and I’m sure my brother in law is missing his bike ride down to the boulangerie.
Thankyou for your recommendations for a restaurant as well, we enjoyed a big family lunch on the last day there and Amelia loved the little play area and the frogs in the pond. The food was very good too! Rob and I also discovered Pirates du Perigord just past Carsac-Aillac on the way to Sarlat which was great for kids and the pizza was fantastic. I know you have grandchildren so I thought I would pass that on, it was Amelia’s favourite place that we ate as there were ducks and she had space to run around. We also ate somewhere called La Centenaire in Montford which was a superb lunch. But mostly, we stayed and relaxed at La Pech. We managed to spot some wild boars in the woods, a deer and the bats that came flitting out of the eaves each evening about 9.15, the only thing we didn’t tick off was the snowy owl that belonged to the neighbour!
Very much hoping we will be back again next year, party size permitting as I think we’ve had such a good time that other family members might want to join us next year.

Hi Anne

I would like to add my thanks for a wonderful holiday at Le Pech. We really appreciated the various sleeping options, the BBC on TV to watch the Wimbledon Final, the lovely pool, loungers, parasols and floats especially the crocodile which was a great favourite as was the trampoline for the 3 year olds and the ping pong for the parents. We had gorgeous weather for most of the week and were very grateful for the generous shade of the tree on the terrace where we enjoyed the wine you kindly left for us. We played tennis every day, used your maps to find a walk, discovered a couple of river beaches and ventured to Sarlat one afternoon but mostly we relaxed at Le Pech!
