My husband and I and our 3 children spent two weeks at this beautiful old farmhouse. The property is full of character, well equipped and comfortable. The large pool with pretty views was a welcome place to keep cool in the heat and the large, meandering garden was a joy to wander around, full of interest and bounty. There was plenty to keep the children occupied and lots of space for us to spread out and relax. We love this quietly beautiful area of France with its rolling hills and medieval hill towns and this was a great base for activities, markets, etc. Brigitte, the owner next door, was kind and welcoming and brought us fresh produce from her garden, including the most delicious tomatoes and courgettes, homemade jams, plus lavender to take home. She gave us a pile of DVDs for the children to watch and bought cake for our daughter, who celebrated her 16th birthday there. She arranged pony trekking for us along a beautiful roman track with stunning views. Lac du Feriogou for swimming/boating and Le Sidobre with amazing rocks are well worth visiting. Our boys loved bouldering in the Rocky River. We highly recommend En Catala for getting away from it all.

We stayed for one week in En Catala and would have loved to stay longer! The house and garden are rustic and full of character. Everything is very well looked after by the lovely hostess Brigitte. We stayed as a family of five (including two teenagers) and the house was very spacious. Inside and outside there were so many places to choose from to sit and read. We hardly left the premises as it was so beautiful and relaxing. Brigitte has lovely suggestions on what to do in the area and always offers to help. She also supplied us with the most delicious fruit and vegetables from the garden. The highlight was certainly the very clean and large pool, in the most beautiful setting.Guest rating:
Our two week stay at En Catala in July / August was absolutely superb. Our party of 8 adults were able to enjoy a relaxing holiday in thisctranquil setting, with the swimming pool overlooking quiet fields. The house is spacious with a well equipped kitchen, and large lounge, both large enough to host us all. The swimming pool and garden allow for restful places to spend time in between outings to various local venues. Verfeil has a good boulongerie, but get there early to get your croissants. Brigitte was on hand to give great advice on good places to visit and some lovely restaurants. If you want a nice treat with fine dining, why not try Auberge de la Forge, about 15 minutes away. Thank you Brigitte for all of your help and advice, and for providing such a lovely holiday venue.Guest rating:
En Catala is a beautiful old farmhouse. It was an amazing Birthday break for my husband and myself, Brigitte was a perfect hostess and couldn't have more helpful, caring and generous. Everything we needed was available in the house. The pool is large and surrounded by lavender and looks over open countryside with a lake in the distance. Its a perfect place to enjoy the stunning sunsets. The garden and pool are very private and quiet. There are lovely places to sit and eat outside and inside. We didn't make use of all the facilities but enjoyed some of the outdoor games. There is plenty to do in the surrounding areas but we were happy for most days to be in the beautiful garden relaxing and reading.Guest rating:
This was one of the most relaxing holidays my family and I have ever been on. There was nothing about the farmhouse or the lovely owner Brigitte we would have changed. The gardens are beautiful and the perfect place to sit out in the evenings. The pool is lovely and very well maintained and there are lots of games and things for the kids to do. The house is beautifully rustic and traditional but has all the modern facilities you need. The real star however is Brigitte, she was invaluable with local knowledge about where to go and what to do and supplied us with gorgeous fruit and vegetables from her garden. Once we work out holidays/work etc... we will be rebooking for next year.

As a family of 5 adults we enjoyed a relaxing week in this tranquil, comfortable, rural farmhouse. We used trains (the olds) and planes (the youth) to travel from the UK to Toulouse, hiring cars from the airport and all worked seamlessly. Lots of space, yet a cosy and private property and great to have choices of eating and dining places around it. Blessed with very hot weather we didn't wish to travel far but explored the clean, elegant Verfeil, the Canal du Midi at Castelnaudary and Carcasonne for contrasts. We loved the pool with its toys and comfy loungers, and plenty of shade, with gorgeous views over farmland-just the odd bleat of sheep and a cockerel 'running late', were all we heard. Table tennis and Scrabble knockouts were great fun in cooler moments! A short drive to the local Intermarche, boulangerie and farmers' markets kept us well fed and wined with excellent produce. Lots of nice little touches and Brigitte's friendly and conscientious concern for our happiness and welfare, made us feel we had what a holiday should be and what we have come to love over the years about rural France. Many thanks from us all. The S-R family.Guest rating:
A great way to see this part of France. The house is full of character and coped easily with three generations of family staying together. A great base from which to explore the region, the pool was perfect for the kids as was the table tennis table in the garden. Owner Brigitte is delightful and extremely helpful, living next door and helped us deal with various challenges with charm and care. I would recommend this house for families and anyone who enjoys the best of the simple things in life.

This property is really excellent, tastefully furnished and bigger both inside and in the garden areas than we had expected. We were there with our grown up children, their partners and 3 grandchildren (aged 8, 5 and 1) but at no time did we ever feel any sense of overcrowding. The house has a wonderful atmosphere, everything you need is available & Brigitte, the owner is only next door and ready to help with all sorts of things. She is warm, caring and practical. The situation of the property is beautiful , everything is well cared for and the pool is magnificent. There are local towns for everyday shopping , a good market and further afield places like Carcassonne or Cordes were well worth the visit. If you want to stay in a special house with an interesting past, a good atmosphere and plenty of useful space I warmly recommend En Catala

Tolouse Blagnac is the nearest airport. Travel from the airport was really straightforward. On arrival we were met by gentle and gallant Brigitte who was so welcoming and a concientious hostess . En Catala is a beautiful characterful house set in lovely gardens with grass, shrubs and fruit trees - all set in idyllic French countryside. We spent two weeks at En Catala and it served both as a great base to explore the surrounding area, as well as providing a relaxed and comfortable time at the pool or on the terrace. The facilities inside and outside were even better than portrayed in the photographs. Highly recommended.Guest rating:
En Catala is a wonderful old farmhouse with large cool rooms to retreat to in the heat and fully equipped for families. It was an amazing break for our family, Brigitte who is close at hand for any enquiries was a perfect host and couldn't have more helpful or generous. The pool overlooks rolling countryside and the garden is a fantastic private haven filled with fruit trees, lavender and beautiful plants. There was a table tennis table and a variety of outdoor games for the boys. We found plenty to do in the surrounding areas from galleries in Toulouse, daily markets and outdoor activities such as acro-branch ( zip wires through a forest) and canoeing but we were equally happy with days in the garden and unwinding by the pool.
We will definitely be heading back for more of the same but next time we'll book for longer!
