Espira is famous for its local wines and there are 9 caves located in the village in which you can taste the local produce. Surrounding the village are vineyards and fields of apricots and figs that nestle close to the River Agly located to the north of the village. The river flows to the Mediterranean, which is a 20-minute drive from Espira. The property is a short 10-minute journey from Perpignan Airport.

The property has been recently sympathetically restored using traditional materials. The Catalan style of decoration is in keeping with the region. Stone walls keep the house cool in the summer and warm in the winter months. The property includes a large south-facing walled terrace with a barbeque area and is planted with olive trees, flowers and palms. A hand built oak kitchen with brand new appliances and a dining/lounge area can be found on the first floor that has, as a centrepiece, a large wood-burning fireplace. All bedrooms have exposed beams and wooden floors. The property is also air-conditioned providing additional comfort during the summer. In the winter permanent heating is provided in every room to supplement the air-conditioning or large log burning fire if required. A large double garage contains bikes to explore the beautiful countryside. The property provides a peaceful private haven from which to explore this wonderful region.
