Hilltop Cottage, a light, bright, three bedroom, two bathroom home,with WIFI, overlooks a quiet valley, discovered  by few others. It is a quality conversion, done to very high professional standards for its American owners.

Despite its secluded situation, it is only a short drive from the bustling village of Verteillac. You can relax in peace 'at home' or visit a variety of tourist attractions. You are surrounded by all the beauty of the rural Perigord, yet spoilt for choice as to where to go!  A detailed guest book  and/or chat with the managers, will help you quickly know much of what is available.

The  house, gardens and 8m x 4.5m, fenced pool are completely private and for your exclusive use.

The high quality accommodation is all on one level, surrounded by level terraces and mature gardens, with lovely trees and shrubs.

It is exceptionally suitable for families with young children and their parents and grandparents, but we also welcome couples.

Holiday Accommodation at Hilltop Cottage

Hilltop cottage is a light, quality conversion, with lots of windows, light walls, antique furniture and tiled floors. All the accommodation is on one level, with 4 steps up to the front door and none at the rear. This L shaped building is surrounded by flat terraces, some lovely shrubs, trees and areas of grass.

The front door leads into:

  • Salon/kitchen - the kitchen area is well equipped. The sitting area has a comfortable 3 seater sofa and two cane/cushioned chairs. There is a TV, (English channels) video and DVD player. The phone is for incoming calls and outgoing card use.
  • Dining area - there is a farmhouse table for 6 and a high chair, although you also have a choice of outdoor dining areas. A door to the sheltered back garden, table and terrace is to the rear of the salon.

Along the corridor from the salon, you first access the lovely:

  • Double bedroom - which has ample storage and hanging space and an ensuite shower/toilet. There is a window to the front of the property and a glazed door leading onto the terraces which surround the house.
  • Twin bedroom - which also has a glazed door onto the terraces, and built in storage space is adjacent to the bathroom. 
  • Twin bedroom - with antique bateau-lit, extra wide single beds,(these are a little wider and shorter 185cm. than standard)and again a glazed door leads onto the terraces.
  • Large family bathroom - with bath and walk in shower, next to a separate toilet. 
  •  Any of  the bedrooms is large enough to easily accomodate a cot, which we can provide.

Outdoors:

There is a private fenced pool, with terracing, plentiful sun beds and parasols. It is 145 cm deep at either end, with a deeper part in the middle. The pool has room for a paddling pool at the side, so once you close the security gate you can relax, swim and play with the little ones.

There are additional table and chairs which you can position as you wish on the terracing, around the house.

There is a gas barbecue, which can be easily used in either the rear or front gardens. You can follow the sun and shade around the house all day.

About St Martial Viveyrol in Dordogne, Aquitaine

A guest book and local large scale maps will be provided, containing up to date information about shopping, restaurants and visits. The following can only be a summary, with all driving time in minutes down country roads with lovely views.

Hilltop Cottage is in a secluded valley and yet is only some 7 min. from the large village of  Verteillac. Here you can purchase all your needs and find a bank, post office, art galleries, bakers and a very large general store.It is 20 min. drive to the large market town of Riberac, which has all facilities, 2 supermarkets and a large market on Fridays.

Aubeterre and Villebois La Valette, are some 20 min. away.

Angouleme is 40 min. and Perigueux 55 min.

How To Get To St Martial Viveyrol in Dordogne, South West France

Detailed travel advice will be shared with you. Driving times from the channel ports are speeding up all the time, as new autoroutes are completed. The  nearest ports are St. Malo, Caen and Le Havre, which are some 6 hrs. away. The more easterly routes take a little longer.

Angouleme station, with nearby car hire offices, for the fast TGV to/from Paris is 40 min drive.

Bordeaux and Bergerac airports are some 90 min. Poitiers and Limoges a little further.

To the rear the L encloses  the secluded back garden with outdoor dining facilities on the level terrace adjacent to the back door.

To the side is the pool, accessed by 3 steps, terracing and gardens.

To the front, another garden, level terracing and more possibilities for outdoor dining.

Parking is adjacent to the front door, accessed by 4 steps. Additional parking across the drive by the barn.
