Restored Cottage and Barn Conversion in Quiet Hamlet

Restored cottage and two barn conversions with exposed beams and stonework remaining. Set in a quiet hamlet between Confolens and St Junien - tranquil! 

There are many things to do around the area so if you like playing golf, walking, cycling, we can point you in the right direction. Other attractions close by include the Velo Rail, Aventure Parc or maybe you are into watersports – then down to the River in Exideuil or further down river to Confolens. If you are not into the activities, then there are plenty of beautiful Churches and Chateaux to see on your travels!

Holiday Accommodation at Confolens Gite

The 3 bedroom gite, comfortably accommodates up to 6 people. This cottage has been restored and retains many of it’s original features.

Confolens comprises:

Ground Floor

  • Living Room - with TV, DVD, feature fireplace and tiled flooring
  • Kitchen/diner - fully equipped to include fridge, oven, microwave, iron, ironing board, coffee maker
  • Bedroom 3 - with a single bed (2 if required)
  • Bathroom - with Power Massage Shower, WC and washbasin

First Floor

  • Bedroom 1 - Master bedroom with double bed, wardrobe and Hair Dryer
  • Bedroom 2 - with twin beds and wardrobe
  • WC - and washbasin

Outside

Garden to the front with table, chairs and parasol. Off road parking to the front or rear. Barbecue provided for those warm evenings! We also have an above ground swimming pool. Pushchair, highchair and cot are available if required.

About Chirac in Charente, Poitou Charentes

Peyras is a small hamlet 5 km from Chabanais - a market town with all amenities - market day Thursday.  Exideuil is within 2 km of us and has a post office, bar/restaurant, pharmacy, boulangerie and shop. 

The River Vienne runs through where many water sports take place in the summer.  We are 40 minutes from both Limoges and Anguoleme Airport.  15 minutes away is Confolens, another market town - markets Wednesday and Saturday. 

There are many local attractions and places to see.  Many beautiful hamlets to see if you have a car and plenty of chateaus to visit.

How To Get To Chirac in Charente, South West France

From Limoges take the N141 (E603) to Angouleme. You will pass St Junien, Etagnac and drive through Chabanais.

From the centre of Chabanais, continue on the Angouleme road and take the exit signposted Exideuil. Drive right through Exideuil; when you have the pharmacy on your left with the bar/restaurant opposite, there is a junction off to the right by the post office - take this road signposted Chirac. Continue over the bridge and follow the road for approx 2km.  You will then come to a Y in the road, continue to the right, around the corner and we are approximately 200m up there on the left.

From the moment we arrived when Guy and Julie where there to greet us, we had the most brilliant holiday. The gite itself was fabulous, very well equipped and the beds were so comfortable. Julie even found a vase to put my flowers in. The view from the lounge/diner was to die for, with the most fantastic sunsets, which we captured on camera.

And now on to the hospitality that we encountered.Guy, Julie and Jade were extremely helpful and very informative about anything you asked them, and so very friendly with it. They made us feel very welcome and at home.Jade was lovely company and hit it off well with our daughter Lucy. The pool was really lovely to come back to after a day out, so clean and inviting and we all had a great lot of fun.The gite shop was very handy and so good to have on hand when you ran out of milk etc and it was always service with a smile and a chat, and the homegrown tomatoes and veggies provided were delicious. And not to forget Troy the dog.I don't think I've ever seen such an energetic dog, and was great fun to watch him chasing  the swallows(which he never caught).He has a lovely nature and loved to greet you.

All in all we all had a fantastic holiday which we feel was excellent value for money, and have already recommended the Tranquille Vienne gites as a place to stay with our family and friends. We still hope to be able to move to this area of France sooner rather than later, and will keep in contact. A BIG THANK YOU AGAIN TO Julie,Guy and Jade for a great week!!

Each gite is provided with it's own barbeque.  We are surrounded by lakes, most of which have designated areas for safe swimming and watersport facilities during July and August.  There is a tennis court 2km from us in Exideuil.

We have large gardens for those wanting to play ball sports.  We also have a badminton set, a basketball net, swing, slide and trampoline which guests are welcome to use under supervision.  Old fashioned games have also been handmade out of wood for guests to enjoy and use - currently the Chabanais gite has 'Toptafel', a game of table skittles, and we also have another table skittles game along with table football for all to enjoy and use.  Or if you prefer, you could play the traditional french boules game!

Our hangar is perfect off-road covered parking for motorbikes.
