Lovely Old French Stone Cottage

This old, original stone house in the small hamlet of Le Grand Coup, set in the midst of the vineyards of Duras, will make the perfect setting for your relaxed holiday. Enjoy a bottle of local wine on the patio overlooking the small valley or take a stroll in the fields or vines. On your way, drop by the local foie gras producer. Visits to the wine mekka St Emilion, Pomerol, the Sauterne region are must-do's.

In the summer you can cool of in the pool (4 x 7m) or sunbathe on the surrounding terrace. Should you not be up to cooking the local produce there are plenty of different restaurants and cafés in the area. During the colder season eat your meals in front of the wood burner in the kitchen/dining room and then curl up in the cosy living room with a good book. Nearby, you can enjoy playing either tennis or golf, going kayaking on the rivers of the Dordogne or the Garonne.

Located in the Lot-et Garonne on the very border of both Gironde and Dordogne, this is the perfect opportunity to visit the pitoresques villages of Duras, Sarlat, Eymet, Domme to name but a few. Grocery shopping is mainly done at the different local markets (closest being Duras at 5 km away). The market of Ste Foy la Grande, one of France's oldest market, is only 15 km's away.

In the summer you can cool of in the pool and sun bathe on the terrace surrounding the pool.  Or you could enjoy a bottle of local wine on the patio whilst overlooking the small valley.

About Savignac De Duras in Lot-et-Garonne, Aquitaine

Situated in the midst of the Côte de Duras wine region surrounded by the Dordogne and the Garonne rivers you can enjoy driving along the local wine route. Pay visit to the world famous home of the Claret wine, St Emilion, with not only some of the World's most famous vinyards but also fantastic restaurant experiences. Local sweet desert wine is best experienced at the Château de Monbazillac in the Bergerac area.

Why not pay a visit to the town of Bergerac with its small cosy cafés and statues of Cyrano de Bergerac. The medieval villages of Duras, Sarlat, Eymet and Domme are close by. The old and renovated town of Bordeaux ("mini Paris") is only 75km away. With its fabulous shopping, beautiful theatre, impressive buildings and wonderful restaurants you are sure to enjoy a lovely day out. Drive 1.5 hours to the Atlantic Coast, walk Europe's tallest and biggest sand dune, la Dune de Pyla and finish off the day by eating oysters in Arcachon.

How To Get To Savignac De Duras in Lot-et-Garonne, South West France

Plane: Closest airport is Bergerac only 30 minutes' drive. Bordeaux airport is about 1 hour's drive away. Toulouse airport 2 hours' drive.

Train: The nearest TGV (high speed train) station is Libourne (1 hour) and Bordeaux (1 hour).

The property is situated about 30 minutes south-east of St Emilion.

Additional price information

  • The cottage can accommodate 6-8 persons. 
  • There are 6 regular beds in 3 bedrooms. An extra bed in the form of a 50cm high electrical blow-up double mattress can easily be placed in one of the two bedrooms upstairs. Charge for 2 extra persons is Euros 100 per rental period.
  • A deposit of 30% is payable when booking + security deposit of €200 to be repayed within 4 weeks after rental period. The balance is to be paid 2 months before commencement of rental period.
  • Electricity and water both included in rent.
  • Baby sitting by qualified British nanny can be arranged. Price upon inquiry.
