18th Century Presbytery 10 mins from Beach
Thinking of a holiday? Why not rent a delightful stone house set in the quiet French countryside of Normandy, 10 minutes drive from the sandy beaches of the Cotentin peninsula. The house is located within an easy distance of Cherbourg and Caen, and around 1.5 hours drive from Le Havre.
The house retains many of the original features of the 18th century presbytery. It stands next to the ancient church of Neuville, originally built in the 12th century and then re-built in 1710. In one of the side barns you can still see the remains of the old cider press. At the same time the house has all the conveniences of a modern house which include full central heating, equipped kitchen, English television, washing machine, bathroom and shower rooms. The house benefits from a fully enclosed courtyard, ideal for children while the field at the rear allows for games, football etc .
Gardens and Courtyard
The house benefits from a large enclosed and pebbled courtyard, with a beautiful horsechestnut tree in the centre with views of the 12th century church and steeple which overlooks the courtyard. There is a small patio where garden table and chairs, loungers can be placed. Barbecue provided.
The house has numerous outbuildings – some of these will be locked for safety reasons. However the large barn on the side serves as a store and has a pingpong table, and treadmill. A barn to the side of this houses bikes which are available for guests, and a washing line.
Access to the side garden via wooden gate, and then to the large field at the rear of the house.

In August 2009 the Trocme's from Canada visited: "..we had a wonderful vacation here, exploring the area by bicycle and walking the "sentiers" around Carteret. The big plage at Carteret is magical. Beautiful property and house - you are obviously putting alot of hard work into it is a pleasur to visit and stay.....we loved stayin in the house".
Wayne Love and family (August 2009) say...."...thanks for the hire of the holiday home. The house exceeded all our expectations. We booked the house mainly for the space but usually things are never quite as good as they look in the photo's. I have to say in this case it was larger than we expected and we had a great holiday. Even the weather was good! No rain and plenty of days on the beach. We are already planning a return to the area and I would have no hesitation booking the property again and would also recommend it without reservation."
In Dec 2009. Abi and Joseph added: .."What a wonderful and relaxing place, perfect for the New Year. The log fires were super for us all to crowd round on the long winter nights, especially when the snow came! Everyone said how much they enjoyed it and what a wonderful house it was to stay in. We really dont want to go home!"

About Neuville En Beaumont in Manche, Normandy
Situated in the Cotentin area of Basse-Normandie in the village of Neuville en Beaumont, the house is one of three houses that make up the area around the church and is about 7km drive from the beautiful coastal town of Portbail with its 12th church and yacht marina. Ferries depart from here and nearby Carteret to the Channel Islands.
Neuville stands in the middle of three towns – St Sauveur Le Vicomte with its 14th century chateau and abbey, La Haye du Puit which has a good array of shops and Portbail. Supermarkets can be found in each of these towns. For restaurants we recommend the Cabestan at Portbail, Le Vieux Chateau at Briquebec and Le Moulin on the road to Carteret. Briquebec is 20 minutes drive and has a medieval castle (and lovely restaurant) with a market on Mondays. Mont St Michel is 1.5 hours away, Bayeux at 1 hours away together with the Landing beaches and Caen (where William the Conqueror is buried) all within easy distance. The fashionable town of Barneville Carteret is noted for its restaurants and beautiful coastline and beaches.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Presbytery. The house is very spacious, beautifully renovated and well kitted out. The owners were very helpful when we were booking the property and the information they provided with our reservation helped us plan many day trips. It is an easy drive from Cherbourg and has nearby beaches. The house is ideally situated for exploring Bayeux, the Normandy landing beaches, nature reserves and local beaches.

We have had a very enjoyable holiday and had some rain, cloud and beautiful sunshine. On the rainy day and a half, we enjoyed the house and relaxed. On the cloudy and sunny days we went to the Landing Beaches (Utah and Omaha) and saw the Bayeux Tapestry. On the sunny days we went to the beach (Portbail and Carteret beaches - the latter was GORGEOUS!) and to the nature reserve near St Comes du Mont. Fiona and Murray your house is wonderful. Thankyou!!
