Four Delightful Country Gites with Roman Style Heated Pool

The most tranquil setting in the Vendee.

In the unspoilt and picturesque Venise Verte, the newly converted gites enjoy the prettiest of locations in eight acres of land flanked by woodlands and criss-crossed by green carpeted waterways. The area has been called a painter's landscape and benefits from the warm and sunny micro climate of the region.

The three terraced cottages each have their own private patio and garden which leads down to the river. They are set in their own meadow flanked by woodlands and riverlets. A 10 m by 5 m heated pool helps you enjoy the lazy summer days. The main house, where the owners live, is across a little bridge and Le Chevreuil is set at the end of the main house with double doors leading to a patio and garden.

The owners want you to really enjoy your stay at La Petite Venise Verte and provide a welcome pack on arrival. In general shops are shut on Sunday, although there are 2 small supermarkets nearby that open for a few hours on Sunday mornings. Linen and towels are included and are changed every week and each gite has a newly fitted kitchen. There is no email access from each gite, but you can use email from the main house if needed.

All gites are spacious and presented to a high standard.

About Nalliers in Vendée, Pays de La Loire

The local village, Nalliers, dates from Roman times with a 12th century church, small supermarket, bars, restaurant, bank, post office, hairdressers, chemist, bakers and dress shop. It is about 1 ½ miles away and also has a tennis court and sports ground.

For the active there are numerous walks through the marais. Cycling is enjoyable because of the flat terrain and the owners provide a selection of bikes. Coarse fishing is very popular throughout the area and there are a variety of fish in the river at the bottom of the garden. There is a boat available at La Petite Venise Verte should you wish to fish or just explore the waterways. Golf, tennis and riding are all available nearby.

Bird watching is a pleasure throughout the year with many migratory species and numerous varieties that nest in the area. There are a number of observation sites to choose from and a biological reserve at Nalliers itself.

Only thirty-five minutes from La Rochelle and the beautiful Ile de Ré, La Petite Venise Verte is easily accessible by road, rail or air.

How To Get To Nalliers in Vendée, North West France

There are regular flights from London Stansted to La Rochelle Airport (a 70 minute flight) or from Gatwick to Nantes, just 45 minutes away. You can also fly to Poitiers from London Stanstead. Rail links to the city are good.
