We stayed here for Christmas as our father lives nearby. Although, it being winter, we didn’t use any of the outside space, inside was very nice. The accommodation is well laid out on one floor, great for kids to be free to wonder and the rooms easily slept two couples, 3 kids and 1 infant. The kitchen, bathroom and the house in general is well equipped and has added extras like games and adapters which came in very useful. The big plus for us is the bath as well as a walk in shower. We normally find in Europe you only get the shower. The house was very clean, the location great not just for my father, but just up the road from Puy-l’Évêque a beautiful riverside town. The views from the house are magnificent being at the top of the hill overlooking the Lot valley. Overall a great stay. Thank you.Guest rating:
Our party had a wonderful stay at your lovely holiday home Lacepede. The house was situated in a lovely area surrounded by open space and Vineyards, well equipped with all the facilities you could ever need, particularly the large pool which was a much welcome relief in the 45 degree heat. Perfect for walking with countless well sign posted routes on your doorstop and excellent cycling across the hills and alongside the rivers. We visited many of the local towns and restaurants including the Vineyard in Floressas (Walking distance from Lacepede) for wine tasting – good wine reasonably priced and ventured further afield to Carhors for days out. Thank you for the beer & fizz A fantastic stay and we have already booked to come back again. Pete & CarmelGuest rating:
Enjoyed a fabulous fortnight at this excellent property. There is plenty of space, both the house and garden are much larger than the impression we received from photos. We were only a couple, but I have no doubt that 4-6 people would be very comfortable. Every detail has been provided, including a very well equipped kitchen and a very comprehensive selection of local maps, walk books and leaflets. The pool is large with a great view across fields and we enjoyed stargazing on the terrace. The was room to store bikes and we enjoyed several excellent rides in the local area on the quiet and, by UK standards, excellently maintained roads, plus some lovely walks from the house. The house was spotlessly clean and the owners were friendly and responsive; excellent communication before, during and after our visit and a couple of very minor problems quickly dealt with. This was an excellent stay in a lovely part of France and we would happily return again.Guest rating:
08/0723 – 22/07/23 2 weeks. 3rd time here, amazing as usual. Wine and beer in fridge on arrival. Weather was great pool was great. Bread cheese wine good weather what more can you want. Really needed a chill out holiday and that is what we did. There are lots to do around the area if you want to, but we didn’t . Just such a relaxing place to holiday. Great for kids, lots of pool toys, noodles lilos. Lots of games and books, colouring pens and paper. Craig and Shelia thank you again for sharing your lovely home. This was our second visit to Lacepede and the lovely pool with countryside views. The property is extremely well equipped, the owner was very helpful, the weather was very hot (around 35C) and so the pool was very well used! The great weather and pool combination meant that we didn’t do as much in the area as we had originally planned and so we now look forward to our third visit!Guest rating:
The second visit, the last was in July 2019, now July 2022 for 2 weeks. The house is great, as we remembered, there is everything you need, from plasters to inflatables for the pool. We needed the pool as it was so hot, 42 degrees celsius! some days, it is fair to say we spent a lot of time in the pool. The information book is great, all the information you need from Boulangeries, supermarkets, local restaurants, and Vin yards. There is a great selection of games and books for all ages. The River Lot is nearby, where you can do a boat trip, and other water activities. It was just me and my husband staying and we just relaxed for 2 weeks, it was bliss. Craig and Shelia left us some wine and beer in the fridge, obviously, they were greatly received thank you. Can’t wait to return next July. Thank you for sharing your home.Guest rating:
A lovely private property with a beautiful pool and countryside views. We wanted for nothing and the owner was excellent at responding to our pre-booking questions. Vineyards (for wine tasting), canoeing, chateaux etc are all within easy access and the property is exceptionally well equipped. A perfect property for some stress free relaxation. We look forward to returning!Guest rating:
A well placed and well equiped property with terrace that leads straight to the swimming pool. Surrounded by vineyards the property offers easy access to local towns with local markets, super markets and all amenities just a small drive away.

Arriving at Lacepede was like viewing an oasis after a long desert trek! The house is beautiful and modern, well appointed and equipped. There wasn’t anything that we needed that wasn’t already there, even down to inflatables for the pool. We travelled with our two children and our little dog. The house is located in such a peaceful area that we couldn’t hear anything at all from our nearest neighbours which was heavenly. The photos do not do the property justice. The rooms were a good size and the kids loved the bunk beds. I felt at home right away and my husband loved the selection of kitchen knives (he almost always brings his own on holiday). The towns of Puy l’eveque, Floressas and Prayssac were all beautiful-so beautiful. All my communications with Craig and Sheila were easy and they are spectacularly amazing at responding quickly to any queries. My husband and I agree that this was the best holiday ever. I will miss the view from the garden, the pool and the peace. We are in the process of trying to figure out how we’re going to get back next year-hopefully Brexit will be delayed or cancelled. Thanks Craig and Sheila, Lacepede is beautiful and we could see how much love you put into it. Thank you!Guest rating:
Myself and my husband stayed here for 2 weeks. What can we say? This is the best house we have stayed in, in France and we have been coming to France since 2007. It’s location is beautiful, it is quiet and private. This is definately just like being at home, as there is everything you could possibly need, the kitchen is so well equipped. You have thought of everything. The pool is a great size, we spend a lot of time in there as the weather was so good, it cooled you of a treat. There are book and games in abundance. Great for kids as it is all fenced in. The book of house information was well put together, nothing was forgotton. We have provisionally book for 2021, which we have never done before, so definately the best house we have ever been to. Thank you for the wine and beer that was left for us. Thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful home. Laura and Brian McArthur. Worthing, West SussexGuest rating:
This summer was out 6th holiday at Lacepede and we have already booked it for next year. When you find a GEM like this you tend to return over and over again. It is not only excellent accommodation but is set in beautiful countryside. The improvements that Craig and Shelia have made poolside really enhance the garden. From the terrace you can watch the wildlife in the surrounding fields. Everythng you could possibly want is found at Lacepede and it is a real ‘home from home’.Guest rating:
This is the second time visiting Lacepede and the owners were as accommodating as ever! When we arrived, there was milk and wine left in the fridge along with a selection of ice creams in the freezer… A lovely touch and very much appreciated. There were seven of us in total and the property was more than adequately sized with 3 large bedrooms, a bathroom and toilet along with secondary facilities. The youngest in the party was 5 years old and to avoid him having to sleep on the sofa or with the parents, the owners very kindly offered to obtain an extra bed to be placed along side the bunk beds. The extra bed, to our surprise actually had a hard base and was a full sized single. This was an incredibly kind gesture and definitely goes to show how well Craig and Sheila look after their holiday makers. In the house there were maps and details of places to visit, from local winery’s to prehistoric caves, so there is plenty to do. However most of the time we were all just happy to sit and relax by, or in the pool. In the evening it is just amazing to be able to be outside and watch the sunset with a few drinks, whilst enjoying a meal together as a family… The views are just fantastic. I couldn’t recommend Lacepede highly enough and will definitely be visiting againGuest rating:
This was our second return visit to the property, having enjoyed it so much last year. The property itself is beautifully situated and very well equipped with everything you could possibly need, including spare sun hats! The lovely pool was particularly welcoming when temperatures reached 44 degrees this August.
We would recommend the property for families as there is much to do and see in the local area. We plan to make a return visit in the future.Guest rating:
What a great property! This is easily one of the best equipped holiday homes we have visited and was literally a home away from home. Following Craig’s detailed directions we easily found the property nestled in the lovely French countryside.
The house had everything we needed for a relaxing and comfortable family holiday including UK satellite TV, a great variety of books to borrow, board games and the all-important dependable wifi to keep the kids happy. The house is not overlooked and has a lovely view over the countryside and we enjoyed all our meals on the terrace watching out for deer. We spent many days and evenings beside the great pool, there is also plenty to see and do in the surrounding area from lovely towns and villages, magnificent chateaus, boat trips on the Lot and of course the many vineyards in the area. There are also bikes and walking maps for the more energetic! Local weekly markets are close by and there are a number of good supermarkets within 15 mins drive.
Communication with Craig with easy from start to finish and he was good enough to let us know when the International Space Station would be passing overhead.
We’ve had a fantastic holiday and would thoroughly recommend this property to anyone, it is definitely one to visit again.Guest rating:
Imagine a perfectly equipped holiday home in the peaceful Lot countryside, with an inviting swimming pool and a large, fully fenced and secure garden. Oh, and with a great bar, restaurant and store just up the road. That’s Lacepede, our little gem in the Lot. Lacepede is the best equipped holiday home imaginable, with everything to make your stay comfortable and relaxing. The area’s top towns and attractions are all within easy reach, there are pleasant strolls from the door and plenty of good restaurants for eating out. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to going back.Guest rating:
Just as advertised, this house is a joy to stay in. It’s quietly situated, not overlooked and has a pleasant outlook. The best equipped place I’ve ever stayed in, nothing lacking. A welcome pack of groceries awaited our arrival. Directions were clear and helpful. The pool is well maintained. Ideal for a family of 2-6. It’s the sort of gite you will want to return to. John BGuest rating:
The house is definitely home from home. It has everything you need and is very well equipped. The pool is fantastic and was a definite hit with our girls. Whilst we were there Craig informed us that the international space station would be going over one night. What a fantastic thing to see my girls were so excited to see it. The house is in a lovely area and we visited quite a few attractions even hired a pedalo one day to go along the river which was great. Will definitely be back.Guest rating:
Nestled 1km North of Floressas in beautiful rural France, Lacepede is a wonderful place to rest and unwind. We stayed for one week, “and wished it had been two.” although mainly staying at the Gite. A couple of times we ventured out, we found beautiful villages and vistas around every corner. The Gite is VERY well equipped, everything you need is supplied. [save for your clothes and food ; ) ] The pool was so refreshing and we will miss this more than anything, The pool man “Chris” was also very entertaining talking about wild times and concerts in Toulouse whilst driving an immaculate Morris Minor van. The only minor irritation for those holidaying with me was the constant need to remove the Zoological specimens from the pool before every use, but for me, it just added to the charm of lacapede. Bringing back childhood memories of rural England back in the summers of 70’s and early 80’s. At this point, I would like to say a very Big Thank you to Craig and Shelia for sharing their property with us and we hope that we will be able to return in the future.Guest rating:
Great holiday! The house was well equipped, comfortable and had a good view, with fantastic wifi! We loved the pool and used it every day. The towns nearby were small but were very nice to cycle to, there were also many vine yards nearby with great wine! In the house were many maps with cycle routes perfect for a family day out. The 2 bikes that came with the house were great and meant the whole family could go cycling! We would thoroughly recommend this house. Francesca age 13Guest rating:
Wow! What a fantastic spot, superb views, private pool and fully enclosed. Couldn’t ask for more. Having never driven a UK car abroad before, we were apprehensive, however with wanting to take our dog on holiday and somewhere warm, we had little choice. As it turns out, we had no reason to be apprehensive. The directions provided by the owners of Lacepede were excellent, we even stopped off part way and had detailed instructions to our stop off point and onwards! It was a long drive, but not challenging and well rewarded when we got to our destination. The kids went straight into the pool while we unpacked and shortly afterwards we were drinking white wine that was kindly left for us in the fridge. Perfect way to start the holiday, sitting on the terrace in the early evening watching the sun go down. We were also left with details of local events, places to visit and recommended restaurants, it was just a perfect and much needed break. So much so we will definitely be back – loved every minute, If you are looking for somewhere to stay in the South of France within a beautiful rural setting, then this is the place for you. Couldn’t recommend highly enough.Guest rating:
After a rather stressful journey owing to an accident on the A20 and very long tail backs, we followed the detailed instructions to the nearby village of Floressas and then came over the hill to see the beautiful view of Lacepede in the sunshine.
When we walked through the door we knew that we were going to have a lovely holiday. The ‘Welcome Pack’ was the best we have ever had. Our two adult ‘children’ could not wait to get connected to the Wifi and to watch TV. The Wifi was fantastic in enabling us to book to see the the amazing sites of Gouffre de Padirac and the Grottes de Pech Merle.
The accommodation is brilliant and catered for our every need allowing us to spend leisurely days around the pool. The area is beautiful and has lots of places of interest. On the morning of our departure we were lucky enough to see a young wild boar crossing the road. We will certainly love to come back again.

Lacepede house has everything you need and more. The location is peaceful, the pool is great and there is loads of space for kids to run around. The area it is in is beautiful, lots of bonnie wee towns and villages. The local people were very friendly and helpful. Vineyards galore, we visited chateau de chambert which is five minutes up the road, we’ll worth a visit.
Craig and Sheila’s communication with us was fab, the directions they gave us from the airport were spot on and we got to the house safely, and also managed to pick up some shopping on the way which is always an achievement.
We look forward to visiting again soon. Lara Stewart.

A beautiful location with good directions which took us through beautiful French countryside. The local village was very lovely and the locals were polite and friendly.
Holiday villa was perfect! Everything you need to enjoy a peaceful family holiday. Comfortable furnishings, delightful location and fab pool…what more could you ask for, well apart from sunshine which we had….perfect!! 🙂
We have had a wonderful family holiday spending quality time together. Definitely recommend to family and friends.

Located in the Cahors wine region 8km from the sleepy market town of Puy L’Eveque. Close to a many bastide towns and plenty of places to visit in this beautiful Lot valley region. Exceptionally well equipped and maintained property – the best we have rented . A nice pool and covered outside seating provides welcome shade on those hot days . There are local agents who are readily available to provide assistance if needed and maintain the pool during the stay. The owners are fantastic in going that extra mile to provide advice and support. All in all we could not fault this Gite and this was our second visit, testimony to our recommendation.

We were looking for flexible family accommodation with a pool in a rural location near to villages of interest. We spent a lot of time researching where to go and chose Lacepede because it had a pool and seemed really well equipped and because it’s situated in such a lovely area of France. We were not disappointed! What a gorgeous, clean, well equipped, spacious accommodation! A beautiful clear pool well proportioned and with depth enough to dive – how nice to jump in there to cool off from the heat! It was just so easy to arrive on holiday here – everything is so well laid out and prepared for you that you really just need to park the car in the generous driveway, unpack open a bottle of wine, kick your shoes off and you’re on holiday!! Living the French dream.
The owners had thoughtfully arranged a little welcome pack so we could have bread and cheese on our first night there and savour the view without worrying about venturing out after our journey. We have two children aged 9 and 11 and to be honest, they were utterly delighted with the pool, they basically spent hours in it having fun and enjoying the freedom of the garden which surrounds it. Really relaxing for us tired, stressed, over worked grown ups. After a day or so, a few choice bottles of wine, gorgeous meats, cheeses, breads and pastries bought from the many local markets and shops (all well described in the informative info pack left by the owners), we really felt chilled and relaxed.
By the end of our stay, we had had such a good time we decided to book again to go next year – loved it, loved the pool, the house, its facilities, loved the area, its friendly local villages, but most of all, we loved the chilled out atmosphere we enjoyed as a family in this nice house.
Guest rating:
Clean, exceptionally well equipped and in good condition making it a home from home. The pool and covered patio proved to be essential in the hot temperatures and were also in good condition and well maintained. The owners were extremely helpful in providing information both before our arrival and the information at the gite was extensive. The availability of a caretaker nearby with the occasional visit inspired confidence that should there be an issue it could and would be dealt with promptly. The gite is well located and we would not hesitate to recommend this gite for a family holiday in the Lot Region.
Guest rating:
Our stay at Lacepede was exceptional from the moment we walked through the door. The whole house was clean, fresh and very well presented, with more than enough supplies throughout the house.
The pool was an absolute joy for both the children and ourselves, and very much appreciated to cool down in as we were very fortunate as the temperature reached 37 plus degrees every day.
Although a car is essential for the rural location, there are some beautiful villages and towns not too far away.
We will be back again!!

What a brilliant spot: Close to the Lot valley with its villages, markets, river, eating & vineyards,Always something to do, if you want to pull yourselves away from the poolside & your books. A comfortable well equipped house with no quirks and a cycle away in the morning to the nearest village shop

This is an Immaculate well equipped villa with fabulous swimming pool, set in a very peaceful and relaxing location. We thoroughly enjoyed our one week stay here. Plenty of information and maps for nearby activities and sightseeing. An unexpected bottle of wine and a few groceries on our arrival was a lovely touch and made us feel special. Thanks for such a lovely holiday.

A lovely, well presented, very clean, well organised and fully equipped holiday ‘ home from home’.
The house is easy to settle in to. The owners have left all the possible information you could require. There are also very helpful caretakers a phone call away. The pool is delightful and kept in tip top condition. The house has a lovely garden area great, for 3 boys to run about and play football! – ! (fully fenced house and garden). There is a DVD player, board games, pool toys and books to keep both adults and children entertained. This is a fantastic area to visit. with lots to see and do.
This is the second time we have visited the property and would highly recommend it. From expressing an initial interest in the property to the end of the holiday the communication with the owners is second to none.

A wonderful stress free week spent at Lacepede. The bungalow was clean and very well equipped. The pool was lovely and well maintained. The amount of information provided by the owners on arrival was second to none. The children loved the outdoor space for football matches badminton and of course swimming in the pool. When it became too hot, English / Scottish TV and a range of board games and DVD’s were enjoyed. Because the children were so happy so were we. Finally the communication with the owners was fantastic from first point of contact at the enquiry stage to the evaluation of the holiday.I would not hesitate to recommend a stay at Lacepede.

We had a fantastic holiday at Lacepede. The house is clean, comfortable, peaceful and very, very well equipped. View from the terrace over the lovely swimming pool onto open fields; the pool is also very clean and kept well maintained. Lacepede is a wonderful holiday home; the owners are a pleasure to deal with and extremely helpful (e.g. drinks in the fridge and fresh bread and cheese provided for our arrival).
Well situated, being a short drive from local market towns and 30-40 minutes from the large town of Cahors. The area is scattered with vineyards (open for tours and tasting) and there are many other attractions (castles, museums, canoeing, etc.) within easy reach should you wish to drag yourselves away from the poolside.
All in all, we thoroughly recommend this property for a good slice of stress-free relaxation.
Guest rating:
We were both very stressed and badly needed to chill out and totally relax for a while, and Lacepede proved ideal! The modern bungalow was so well equipped (better than at home!) that staying in was a pleasure. But with all the information provided exploring local restaurants and market towns was easy as well. I have lovely memories of a really relaxing stay, spending mornings on delightful walks or at local markets, and afternoons reading and dozing (and occasionally swimming!) by the pool. We will certainly return – please!!
